NC man waiting for a Ghost Train gets killed by a real one

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Authorities say a man who was waiting with several friends for a "ghost train" from a North Carolina legend was killed when a real train came down the tracks.

Iredell County Sheriff Phil Redmond says 29-year-old Christopher Kaiser of Charlotte was killed about 2:45 a.m. Friday as he waited with friends at a railroad trestle. Redmond says witnesses said about 12 people were on the trestle hoping to see a ghost train when the real train rounded a bend.

Everyone but Kaiser was able to clear the tracks at the end of the trestle. The train struck Kaiser, who was thrown into a ravine.

The legend developed from a train wreck on Aug. 27, 1891, that killed about two dozen people and injured many others. Folklore Web sites claim the accident can be heard on each anniversary.

I dunno, I don't understand how people die by getting hit by trains. In EVERY SINGLE instance someone is doing something incredibly stupid. Walking down the tracks with a walkman/mp3 player blaring. Trying to run across a busy train station crossing without looking. Trying to lay on the tracks and have a train pass over. Playing chicken with a mother!@#$% train.

These people deserve what they get.

There's an urban legend that says Kaiser returns each year on the anniversery of death to throw people down that same ravine if they believe in stupid urban legends. Or there will be once I start a blog.

Well that adventure he set out to have with his friend became a total train wreck.

Well, that was a smart idea.

He was probably on drugs. Too bad he wont have the chance to get his life back on track.

Back when I was in high school, some kid got onto the tracks of a passenger train line and decided he would tag the wall on the opposite side. It was dark, he was alone, and had his headphones on... you can guess the rest.
