Instead of my usual suggestion of the Night Angel Trilogy I will recommend the books I ordered off of Amazon yesterday. Dead Space Martyr, Metro 2033 and The Gunslinger.
I always feel useless when these topics come up because I don't read a lot of fiction.

Swan Song by Robert McCammon and Under the Dome by Stephen King.
Swan Song is my favorite horror novel ever, and Under the Dome is the best Stephen King book I've read since The Stand.

Yeah, but most people like fiction for its entertainment value. My small library is mostly for reference and topics that really wouldn't be of much intrest to most people.
Although the TC might like the following:
Finding Darwin's god- its about religion and science
Highest traditions- its about a UH-1 door gunner in Vietnam.
