Need some "good" advice about my job.

I'm 20 years old. My mom recently passed away. No Father. I go to college. I live in an apartment with 4 very close friends.

I work at a test center for Real Estate and Insurance Agents and give electronic fingerprints. My job is extremely easy. i get payed 11 bucks an hour. (In my situation, as a now young adult, I NEED this type of income.) I am ABLE to attend college, thank god, because of inheritance funds.

Ive been employed here for pretty much two years now and usually make around 35-40 hours (Max) a week.

MY PROBLEM

We have had, very recently, a shortage of testers which means the days i work and the hours i make are cut. These shortages usually only last like a week their and a week here. But this has been going on for almost a month now. My Boss, co-workers, or reginal Manager seem to not know when this shortage, if ever, will end.

MY QUESTION

I guess i want your opinion. Do you think its time to look for another job on the side? or tough out the rent and bills hopeing it will pick back up? Or is this like considered a "dead job" or something like that?

Pretty much... don't put yourself in a rough spot by quitting before you get something else as good or better, but from the past experiences I have now at 24... make sure you're never someone else's (your boss's) *EDIT* *****. Don't ever put yourself in a spot where you're dependant on your current job/boss.
