So Netflix has recently come over to the UK, and I was hoping I could get some US users thoughts on it.

So far they have a pretty decent selection of programs up on it, but not many complete series. Was it the same in the US? Do they roll out more seasons as time goes on? Do they replace programs after a while, or does everything stay up on it all the time?

Also how long does a film normally take between a retail release and a release on netflix?

Is there one standard rate, or can you pay more for a better service? Over here there is just one flat fee of £5.99 p/m.

I was considering getting Netflix, until now. I forgot that they raised prices a while ago. There are other services.

Didn't like it.

The movie selection is all older movies, theres no current releases at all.

The only good thing I liked was the old TV shows you could watch. Thats about it. I already have TMN (the movie network) and they have a channel called MPIX as part of their package which shows old movies so netflix is a waste for me.

Netflix is absolutely fantastic. Several amazing films and tv series that would simply be a chore to watch anywhere else -points to insane dvd prices for any tv series.

I love the selection of TV Shows. The movies available for instant streaming are average.

I pay 10 bucks a month for 1 Blu-ray out at a time. I usually rent like 4 movies in a month. I could go with Redbox and probably save a buck or two, but half the time they don't even have what I want.. and I kind of hate driving just to get a damn movie. The biggest pro for me about Netflix is how fast the shipping is and how awesome their library is. Maybe 10 bucks is kind of slightly overpriced, but whatever. It's not a huge loss, and I can cancel at any time with ease. Good service. Never really had any problems. Have used them off and on. I didn't, however, support the crap they were trying to get away with a while ago.

Netflix does have a huge range of TV shows atleast in the US. It usually takes a while to get episodes of a new season if the show is still running but it does a decent job. Some big shows it has would be All of Stargate SG1, Atlantis, and SGU, along with season 2-15 of Top Gear, all of Married with Children, 24, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Malcolm in the Middle, That 70's show, Family Guy, American Dad, Futurama, several X-men and Spider Man cartoons, and probably alot more i havent even found yet.

Netflix has to wait for 30 days after a new release to add to their selection. So if you're only interested in new things (which is kinda stupid) then their time release won't be sufficient.

But if you love movies and TV shows in general, then you'll love their ever-expanding library. I don't know much about their UK selections. If it's poor now, eventually they will add more. They typically add something new every week.

That isn't true. Granted they could have more, but they are getting plenty. Currently I have True Grit (remake), Star Trek (remake), the Fighter, Shutter Island, and Iron Man 2 all in my instant queue. That's just a few.

I think Netflix agreed to a 56 day wait now for Warner Bros videos. I just like the streaming since it's cheap and i can get it on my computer, phone, PS3, Wii, and BD player.

Yeah, and by the time you get done watching all the movies you want, there will be more new ones waiting.

It's constantly on in my home, either on my iphone, ipad, PC, Wii or mostly, the PS3. I love streaming movies, but it's mostly for the kids shows. I don't know what my 2 yr old would do without a constant stream of Wonder Pets. Just hoping they add Adventure Time to the roster at some point.

Worth getting. You can pretty much any new release by rental, and the streaming content is rich enough to keep you entertained in between rentals.

We have it in canada, but there isn't nearly as much on it as americans have. But for the $8, its worth it... as long as you don't mind watching older movies.

initially they kept adding, and adding to their streaming collection until Hollywood fought back due to renting = piracy. It's a great service, personally I canceled by subscription after the price increase because I rarely used the service, and I couldn't justify the extra five dollars.

Fightingfan

Admittedly though, it has a really good TV selection that is growing everyday. With the price increase, I was tempted to cancel my subscription, but decided to just downgrade to streaming. It sucks that Hollywood is stonewalling when it comes to movies though. Just charge a lincensing fee and you get money.

I agree, it was worth it. When I had the service I watched half of breaking bad, and most of LOST.

I love it, use it all the time.

Films tend to come up sporadically, there's no real set time when they're available and they'll go back to DVD only after a while. The more popular a movie is the less likely it'll be available is how it tends to go, but they still have a pretty good selection you can pick through for something to watch.

TV is where it's at though, they're usually added a little after the DVD comes out and it's pretty easy to find all the past seasons for most shows.

Then again, I don't know if they have a different selection in the UK, it may be different for you guys.

I'm just patiently awaiting for the return of Arrested Development on Netflix. After the dismal year they had, scoring the exclusive rights to air the new episodes has to help them out a bit.

Been on netflix for about 4-5 years.

Best thing since sliced bread.

I only have the streaming service, don't need delivery. I pretty much watch 1 movie per day, and it costs me $7.99 a month.

They add more stuff every month.

I have it and love it. Only $7.99 a month. I canceled my cable because of it. I only use the streaming service. I first got it just to watch stuff on my smartphone, but now that I have a PS3, I watch it on my TV all the time.

If you like watching movies netflix is awesome I had both the streaming and dvd rental but after the price increase just went with streaming just more convenient can browse through there collection till I make up my mind on a movie to watch and watch it instantly without waiting. Have seen a ton of movies I would have never seen if it weren't for netflix and in general see alot more movies because of it the price is cheap to considering all they offer especially if you watch alot of movies.

It's a fair deal. Their streaming library isn't as good as it used to be, but there are still some newer movies on it that I didn't get to see in theatres. There are also some movies on Netflix that would be hard to find anywhere else.

I'm canadian so have a smaller library where netflix is concerned of shows etc, but for me it's totally worth it. I watch a lot of cartoons as does my kid and I like that there is older movies and tv shows being added. I'm greatful for the service. Yes they do add some new stuff but sometimes it gets pulled or sometimes they wont put up full series. I still think its worth it. Since it's been in Canada it's stayed at 7.99$ a month and we've had it about over a year and a half now I think. It has improved it's library to an extent. In Canada they dont send out the dvds so it's all streaming and it's fairly decent. You only pay extra in the US I believe if you choose the DVD option as well.

I like it. They added a lot more to their selection after the price raise. There's many titles you're probably familiar with, along with some more lesser known ones, but it's a good chance to try and watch some new things you might not have otherwise. There's less instant stream titles, but the others you can put on your queue (I don't recall how long it takes). You can stream it on things like your laptop, cell phone, tablet, etc if you have the necessary connection and/or app. I'm pretty sure they have a free trial, so you can just try that?

I use streaming only and find the price to be extremely fair. I watch it nearly every day and they have continually added new shows since I started in 2010. They have removed some content but luckily they haven't removed much of anything I was interested in.

You do kind of have to settle for content that might not necessarily be your top choice, but there's plenty of good stuff to watch.

Netflix is awesome, but they keep raising their rates over here. It lead to a massive subscriber backlash that they're still reeling from.

Pro tip: Here's what you do: Get a Netflix account with like 5 people and split the cost. You can all download stuff at the same time.

Then just downgrade to streaming only and don't pay the 5 extra bucks? Why do people keep thinking they raised the price on streaming when they didn't? Also good service, lots of choices but the no changing the picture format is annoying.
