Really? The only song on the album I've really gotten into is 21 Guns, and possibly Viva la Gloria. Took me a few listens to really "get fully into it". Now, it's like a superior American Idiot.
american idiot proved that green day are not musicians to be taken seriously under any circumstances. their new single "know your enemy" further confirmed exactly what i have been thinking - theyve not become any better. eminems album, on the other hand, is great. the song "Beautiful" is one of the best songs released in 09. its just.. beautiful :)

I agree. Know Your Enemy is no where near the best song on the album, but I think I know why it was chosen as the first single. I haven't listened to the full album yet as I'm waiting for tomorrow, but songs like Viva La Gloria!, Murder City, and American Eulogy alone are far better than American Idiot, and I loved that album. Not for the Bush and America bashing, but it helped me vent out a lot of anger I had going on my junior year of high school.

How so? Because it sold millions or because it won awards, or because you just didn't like the enemy? I'm not trying to suggest that sales or awards=good music, but saying they "aren't musicians" is IMO, ridiculous.

There's a lot more albums than just those two that came out, and that I'd strongly prefer. Albums like: Enter The Vaselines by The Vaselines (compilation but... w/e) Primary Colours by The Horrors Spoils by Alasdair Roberts Actor by St. Vincent Heck I don't even like Isis but I'd rather listen to Wavering Radiant than listen to either album you listed. In fact, I'd rather stick something sharp in my ear, than listen to either album you listed.

Green Day, simply because I like them in general. I will admit that I believe that Eminem's single was better than Green Day's, but hopefully Green Day has better stuff.

You have absolutley have no idea what you are talking. American Idiot made them even more of muscians by creating a rock opera and selling millions. The lyrics on 21st Century Breakdown are incredible, and Eminems new album is very meh to me because of the new "accent" he does.
