What is it that you people don't get? The french are known for their losses on the battlefield, surrendering and being invaded. Instead of the 20 gears going foward, they are going backward so that they can retreat quicker. How is this not comedy gold. Oh yeah that's right , I forgot. Two college students were building a house together, when one of the students looks over at the other and sees him throwing away about half of his nails. He goes over and asks him what he is doing and his friend replies, "oh, well when I pull these nails out of my pouch, the flat side is pointing towards the building and I can't pound them in that way so I'm throwing them out."

His friend just shakes his head and says, "No dummy, you don't throw them away! Those nails are for the other side of the house!"

But seriously your joke wasnt all that funny... Im not an expert on tanks either but I think 21 gears is a bit implausable? surely that would slow them down(constantly changing gear) and it would mean they struggle to climb the steeper inclines and stuff.... hence they would be no more effective at retreating as conventional tanks.... and everyone knows its harder to reverse than just turn around.

I heardParisfellto Nazi controlbecause a person (very important)in Paris was loyal to the Nazis...I could be wrong though...France was a leading superpower before WWII when they lost to germany...it kind of destroys that aspect...so that is why people remember the retreating french...more than the stay and fight french..schoeffmaster

no Paris was merely occupied by the nazi's.... they were however loathed by most o th french. However their are stories of the well-paid german soldiers being a big hit with some of teh french ladies... this was noted by other french people and those women all got their come-uppance when Paris was liberated

To all the naysayers here, we know the French were an uberpower back then. That ended around the early 1800s when they were defeated by the British, and it all went downhill from their. Surrender in WW1, Surrener in WW2, Surrender in Iraq, Surrender in Vietnam, etc., etc. Their only respectable force is their foreign leigion merc core (dad was in it, he said it was good). THAT is why Rican posted a French joke!
