Honestly, I'm interested to know why you guys think this, do you really think songs like "Basket Case" were better than Jesus of Suburbia? or Saint Jimmy? Stylistically they haven't changed that much. Is it the new political messages you don't like?allnamestaken
I like the older stuff better because it had a more punk feel to it i know bands get older and evolve but too much experimentation kills it.Still prefer Kerplunk and Dookie to any of the stuff later on but Nimrod's got a hold on me atm.Its just how i like it, now i think thats why i like New Found Glory more nowadays since they kept to a formula with the exception of coming home which tooka diffrent stylistic approach but still felt like them.
21st century breakdown wasnt good nor was it bad its just average, theres the songs that remind you of what Green day originally was imo and theres songs that i dont like cause it doesnt sound right with Piano's to be honest with you..Its just not for me.I mean i like American idiot it isnt a forgettable album but its nowhere near any of the stuff that made Green day green day imo.
And stylistically with 21st century they changed a lot imo with the piano driven parts with a more ballad feeling at some point.
And basket case is a Classic Green day song much like She,2000 lightyears away,Platypus (i hate you),Longview,Hitching a ride,Welcome to paradise. Most people would recoqnise those before Jesus of Suburbia for many reasons imo.
