So i've lived in NJ for all my life, and although i've been out of state, i was wondering. Do people consider New Jersians to have a heavy accent such as southeners, or new englander? I've just never thought of myself having an accent.

Living in Philadelphia, I've never noticed an accent in people from Jersey. Though that could be because it's a twenty minute drive to get there.
On second thought, you guys pronounce the word "water" differently. Most people here (myself not included) pronounce it "wooder."
Yea. I know it's a generalization, but NJ accents are similar to NY, only dirtier with longer vowels.
Edit: After reading that again, it looks like quite the insult. I don't mean dirtier as in worse, I mean with more variation. A stronger accent.
Yea. I know it's a generalization, but NJ accents are similar to NY, only dirtier with longer vowels.guynamedbillyWow, really? I never thought i really stretched out my vowels. Hmm...
I went to California, and i did not notice any different in the speech of myself and them.ieatnoobs18I'd bet they noticed. Heck I can notice the difference and I'm a lot closer to you than California is.

That's more like a Boston accent.
Also, to others in this thread, Boston =/= All of New England. A Boston accent is very different from the average NE accent, trust me I know.
