My old neighbor was from New Jersey and she used to say it like this: "I'm from New Joy-sey."

barcx17

That's a brooklyn accent, she probably moved here from New York, like half the other people who are here.

Maybe... I never really intereacted with my neighbors so I don't know a lot about them. She just always said she was from New Jersey :P

lol yeah if you talk to those "New Jersey Pride" people, they'll say that pronouncing it "Jersey" and not "Joysie" is part of the Official Code of being a New Jerseyian.

I have a New Jersey accent. After I moved to Maryland, all of my English teachers tried to put me into speech classes because they thought I had an impediement, seeing as I didn't have the Mason Dixon accent. I'm glad they didn't cure me, it's good to have an accent, it makes me unique.

Everyone has an accent, so yeah. North Jersey accents have a New York influence and South Jersey accents have a Philadelphia influence. I prefer South Jersey, personally. My dad's from Burlington.

For most of my childhood, I lived in Southern Jersey. When I moved to Florida, some people my NJ accent, which I never knew actually existed.
