[QUOTE="aka_aj03"][QUOTE="x8VXU6"]I hope they dont mess this upI think this will be good trilogy because Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko got M. Night back. Well. . .they did, but at some point they were fired, and now that M. Night has the rights, they can't work on anything Airbender ever again.Theokhoth
Well they couldn't really do anything with the series once the Fire book was complete. lol
The firelord was taken out, and everybody went nice to eachother.
The only thing that I could think of for a new season would be Zuko looking for his mom. But that doesn't sound very thrilling. :P

Not really...Just look at their fighting styles:
Ba Gua - Air
Hung Gar - Earth
Northern Shaolin Kung Fu - Fire
Tai Chi - Water
All four styles were created in China. The Avatar animated series heavily borrowed from Chinese, Japanese, Taoism, Buddhism, and Yoga. There is not a single mention of Eskimo or other non-East Asian influences. The furthest it goes beyond East Asia would be India (Avatar is a word in Sanskrit after all).
Crazyguy105
Compare the looks, culture and location of the water tribes to that of Eskimo tribes. They're almost identical, down to the clothing. Even some of the characters are played by native American Indians. The South Pole especially.
India is in East Asia. . .
The Earth Kingdom is the largest nation in the series and has a huge mix of people. Toph and Haru, for instance, don't look Asian at all, while the Kyoshi islanders look somewhat Asian.
The Air Nomads were clearly Chinese with Buddhist leanings; the Fire Nation was mainly Japanese.
Remember that there's not a single mention of any of these cultures in the show because the show is based in a fictional universe. They just take their influence from these cultures.
I'm a little geeky over this show. :P
That doesn't mean they can make american/white actors play the role of them. >:[
Well considering they are the ones making the movie they can choose whoever they want. Im sure they had their reasons for choosing the actors/actresses to play these characters. If it really bothers u that bad, make your own movie.
I completely agree. I don't usually like to bring race into the mix of things, but cmon they could have at least tried to portray the characters more accurately!Wow, the guy that plays Zuko is the actor from Slumdog Millionaire? :? I also love how they whitewashed every other member of the cast. Avatar is based on East Asian culture, which makes me wonder why very few (if any) member of the cast is from East Asia.

Looks nothing like the girl > : (
They should've used this girl
tepni
she is too sexual for disney, I think that is the problem.
If they went after an actress that physically represented the cartoon/animation, I think Disney would be accused of skirting sexuality despite the fact the cartoon/actress is a teenager (i.e someone physically represemtinmg sexuality, but socially not capab;e pf doing so) it would get some flack
I don't know about the acting quite yet, but I'm still very excited for the movie. At the very least, the story will remain decently in tact and the awesome looking fight scenes can carry the subpar acting. I just wish it had shown Appa for more than a split second. I'm really eager to see how he looks in CG. I absolutely love Appa and I want to see if they make him as cute in the movie.
Doesn't look great. They're not going to be able to get all of the important stuff from the series in to a 2-hour film.Bourbons3
It's a three part trilogy. One movie for each Book (or season). I think they can do it, and M. Night has been collaborating heavily with the creators of the show to work on the story.
I can't wait! Definiatly gonna watch it in 3D, such a great show and this movie looks just as good, woohoo!
You might want to edit your post, you spelled firebending wrong.[QUOTE="Got_to_go"] [QUOTE="Theokhoth"] I know, right? We finally got to see Appa flying and Katara waterbending (waterbending = best). I'm satisfied. :PTheokhoth
I'm sorry; I couldn't hear you over the fire navy fleet being drowned by Eskimos.
Sorry what was that? The sound of half the planet the fire nation took over kinda drowns you out. Along with the coolness of Iroh.Deeeaaarrr LORD! Absolutely DO ****ING WANT! That was ridiculous...
@the people complaining about the characters looks: I'd rather they cast people who look kind of similar and can act than exact look-alikes. Its a ****ing anime/cartoon for crissakes. Its not going to be perfect.
Edit: Oh yes, and I'm from the Toph/metal-bending fan-club.

I didn't know you were a fan of this show. :o
And Katara could kick Toph's ass. She just chooses not to because she's awesome.

And if I recall correctly, the only reason Iroh was able to come up with the only move to deflect lightning was because he studied WHO? The waterbenders. 8)

[QUOTE="Lonelynight"] wow we have quite a few Avatar nerds here. :PTheokhoth:P It's a good show, mkay? :x I really like it too, but I don't remember every details. And as we are on the subject on favorite characters, I'll go with Zuko.

[QUOTE="Crazyguy105"]I think Rathbone fits his role very well, in terms of looks anyway. ...how??? how could you say such a thing? Sokka has DARK SKIN TONE and is INUIT!!! i know it would be hard to find a suitable inuit or native american actor but they could have easily gone with an Indian actor, i personally think Dev Patel (Slumdog) would have played the part perfectly.Oh wow that looks absolutely terrible.
The actors and actresses don't look ANYTHING like the original characters look.
I knew this was a bad idea. :(

Not exactly. Since you haven't seen season 2, you don't know who the hell Toph is, but she's the best earthbender in the series. . .so good, in fact, she develops a new styIe of earthbending where she bends the earth in metal.

I just finished Season 2 on DVD last week and I must say Toph is my favorite character on that show. She is full of awesome and I can't wait to see her in the second movie.

Aang's actor is Asian American, and Zuko's is Indian American. As for the others, it really doesn't bug me as long as they're good.
Aang's actor looks like a freakin baby fighting with a stick. :x
I didn't see Zuko. I closed the window too soon.
Aang was 12 in the show...Lol...Wow. You're taking this too serious. I think you need to get out more... :|Wow, the guy that plays Zuko is the actor from Slumdog Millionaire? :? EDIT: After watching the trailer, WOW I must say this looks like a HELL of a movie. I always enjoyed the plot of the TV series, and it seems it will translate well into a movie.

honestly that's looking pretty good. The effect will be good and the rest will depend on acting and story.
