I agree. Her chest (not breasts, the chest area) sticks out too far and makes the whole body look a little malformed. Other than that it's great.

You do have a point on that, though I'm suprised no one's mentioned the crappy job I did on the legs.

Well then I guess it's skin tight? If so then her features aren't really proportional with her body.

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]So we're only supposed to critique?ninjacat11

You can if you want.

I'd rather just lend a hand

Remember that faces aren't flat so what you need to do is draw a line across the head from right to left with a bit of a curve and line the eyes up that way.

When it comes to the nose the solid line farthest away from the viewer is ok but you can't have the solid line for the one closest to the viewer, that needs to be shaded. Sometimes best in females is to just draw the bottom of the nose and then omit any part of the line going up at all (that's closest). The ear should also line up on the head, not be that far up the side of the head.

You need to work on the torso more, you don't have the anatomy down and you're making people that don't have their ribcage in the right spot, also you have the chest going straight down instead of angled slightly down and that's making the breasts look very oddly placed. Also remember that the back goes from the lats being the farthest point outwards and then works back in, you have the back going out too low (because of the chest) and then you're carrying it too far down as well.

You're trying to stretch out the character too much and you're losing the basic biology, tighten everything up

I see what you mean. I'm not quite the best at anatomy. Then again, I don't use any reference images.

You shouldn't be using reference images.

What you need to do is learn the basics, learn how many heads make up a woman on average and how many make up a man (8 and 3/4th's for each, thanks to the legend John Buscema)

Once you have the basics down put those basics in every single possible direction and action possible and work on the perspective so you have it down pat.

Once you get the basic human body down (male and female) then you can start to expand and exaggerate whatever you want.

I'm not sure what you were going for here. But I think it looks fine/interesting. Except it doesn't look like a typical female we're all accustomed to seeing, so it might throw people off or cause them to think you did a lousy job.

Its really hard to even see her left leg at all. :| Other than that a little refinement on the anatomy as jasonguy said could help a bit... also not sure how much time was put into this, but a little more might benefit... I have that problem too. :(

It's alright, but lift the pencil up, don't be so harsh. If it's a sketch, make sure you're using a sharp pencil and make, long, relaxed strokes, and at some points, the tip should be barely on top of the paper. The face is kinda messed up, and the nose feels like it was pinned on. Shading is crucial to making facial structures look good. The eyes are basically to holes in the head, (medium progressing to light shadings below on the actual eye, mostly medium shading above) the nose's shadows should lead into the eye cavities. Start with two dots as nostrils then shade in the snout (Or what ever you call it.), with light shadings going into the cavities. As a previous posters mentioned, the abdomen is a bit inflated, form is a bit messy, and the normal arm is kind of long. Not bad though. :)HessenKnight

Actually, I haven't even touched BioShock. I want to play it, but I'm too lazy to buy a 360 (PS3 FTW)/upgrade my graphix card.

We're not picky we're honest.

I'm guessing he wants to get better and if he wants to get better then he has to know some things about the basics.

Not about line structure or what kind of pencil hardness to use or how much shading to use but about the basics. Master the basics and every style can be used from that point on.

He doesn't have to change a single thing about his style, he needs to learn the basics.

And this isnt flaming. Its just my honest opinion. Since you asked for it.

Here's an updated version I think fixes some of the problems.

ninjacat11

No

OK let's get to the good things first

You're working at it which is good to see that you're willing to put forth an effort.

Now onto the bad

You didn't fit the problems with anything except shortened up the upper arm.

Plus you compounded the problem by adding that rocket pack on the back, now he body is off even more. If that rocket is puitting out that much then it's moving her forwards which means that she's not hanging straight down but instead she's going to have her body going backwards. Her body should be pointed to the bottom left of the screen, not straight down.

You need to learn the basics before you try to do anything else or you're just going to keep on repeating the same mistakes.

Seriously dude, every one of your drawings has the exact same body style and armor or whatever that is. Are you like using a template or something...? It's unoriginal and the template itself is a lame one. Go with something fresh.

Maybe a tiger with a laser gun or something like that. Or a vicious man-eating unicorn.
