New source of fuel for cars?

Pretty interesting, they found out how to burn salt water, which can help cause a hydrogen reaction. I'm really excited about this, seeing how water is more available then oil, and can definately be more eco-friendly.

Thoughts?

I dunno, right now they are putting in a request to get funding for further research. This means not having to go internationally to get oil, and having stupid oil accidents in the middle of the ocean, wasting all that fuel.

If you're talking about gas prices though, hopefully it wont be as expensive as it is today. Although it has to meet the economy balance too.

Hate to break it to you, but oil companies won't allow it to happen. Sabotage, scandals, assassins, they will find a way to keep logical, enviromental friendly forms of energy from being developed. The only thing that will finally bring an end to oil dependence is when its supply literally runs out. And thanks to the oil companies for not letting anyone develop alternative fuels, it could turn out to be the biggest world panic you could possibly imagine.TERMINAT0R1

Ya I hear ya, like how the electric car has been around for a very long time, and NOW they just started implementing it into their cars. Mostly because the dealerships buy the plans and destroy them. However seeing that this is under government funding, they can possibly push this as a standard, forcing oil companies to sell out.

Not really...I am not entirely sure of the technical terms. By natural oil I meant oil one gets from digging into the Earth, the kind of oil that takes millions of years and great amounts of pressure and heat to create...the kind of oil that is made from what was once living.

When I mean synthetic oil, I mean the kind of oil that is...made...by humans.

Well right now they're trying to do AE85 for gas engines and Biodiesel.

They can do all sorts of things, but up until now they're hasn't been big concern.

The funny thing about E85 is that most of the processing plants are so bad that if you look at carbon emission during the whole cycle from harvesting to processing to the car, E85 actually produces more CO2 than regular gas, but the car companies (GM especially) keep talking about lower emissions figures from the car to make people think it's the green way to go. At least some of the new plants are getting better.

In the article they talked about temperatures of 3000 degrees to burn the water...I wonder what they would make the engine out of. Ceramic?

That's sad, that everyone else are years ahead of us in eco friendly technology, yet we have to be years ahead of people in the military. :(

Yep and all we do is start a war to get more oil :(

We had it (go watch "Who Killed The Electric Car") but our stupid government detroyed the whole concept. We still have billions of dollars worth of oil yet to use to keep our country at "the top". To keep us viewed as rich world leaders.
