Bleach? death note? naruto? suzumiya haruhi no yuutsu?
All good animesA few I really liked:
-Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (first episode might be off-putting for newcomers, others who have read the novels will find it hilarious) ..I highly recommend the novels if you liked the anime.
-Monster
-Death Note (best Shonen manga/anime out there imo)
-Azumanga Daioh
-Utawarerumono
-Elfen Lied
I also hear Shakugan no Shana is pretty good, going to be picking that up soon I think.

Yeah, well IDK, the first chrono episode or air date episode? -_-. Are they the same (I haven't watched it in ages, I recently read the Japanese novel though :P).
EDIT : Bleach and naruto are way overrated imo. They just get boring after like 80 eps, then the fillers kick in and it's super boring. Though Rurouni Kenshin was good (wasn't that over like 100eps?). Anyways, I still think you should go with either Love hina or Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu.

Yeah, the timeline of the anime is kinda screwy. I meant Episode 1, as in the Episode that first aired, which was the initial showing of the (unendorsed) school culture festival movie.
I'm on Volume 3 of the light novels, and the timeline is kinda weird there too. Vol. 3 is a series of short stories that take place before the beginning Volume 2, yet after the end of Volume 1.

Totally agreed.
Drama/Action- Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X.
Comedy-Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuustu, and Lucky Star
EDIT: OH yeah forgot Blood+ and Love Hina.

What? Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu was hilarious! *remembers the computer club scene* :P. Oh the memories.
haruhi isnt really comedy. i think its more scifi which is why i loved it :DSelf_indulgence
It blends many genre elements together quite nicely and certainly has some comedic elements. Gotta love Kyon's narration.
Full Metal Alchemist best storyline in any anime everSerraph105
There are some good suggestions here.
I have a few: Initial D (if you're into cars and drifting), Great Teacher Onizuka (hilarious), and Hikaru No Go (something like Yu Gi Oh in the sense of being focused on a game, but so much better).
And if you're interested, there's a whole union devoted to anime here on GS. This is one of the most active ones. Here's the link, feel free to stop on by:http://www.gamespot.com/pages/unions/forums/show_topics.php?board_id=909183057&union_id=13098
If you like action then: Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, Bleach, Cowboy Bebop, One Piece ( Only if you like straight forward stuff that requires little thinking) ,Claymore (Good IMO)
Non action: Fruits Basket, The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Ouran High School Host Club, Death Note
Death Note is the best of the best. Brilliant anime and you get hooked with watching only the first episode. Was always abit skeptical about anime , but finally got around to watching a full amine series ( Gantz ), and enjoyed it immensley.

DirrtyNinja
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Rurouni Kenshin
Fooly Cooly
Elfen Lied
Thoes are the four best animes out there....
Unfortunantly, I consider much of the anime out to be utter crap. If you want to get "into" it. I recomend the following...
-Last Exile
-Outlaw Star
-Black Lagoon (1st Season)
If you still like what you are seeing, move up to...
-Azumanga Daioh
-Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex
-Neon Genesis Evangelion
I'd list anime you should avoid like rabies, but the list would take up several pages. So it's better to look for what doesn't suck.
And I thought Haruhi Suzumiya sucked. Yeah I went there.
