FYI, some of the most common resolutions are:

1) Spending more time with family

2) Exercising more

3) Losing weight

4) Quitting smoking

5) Enjoying life more

6) Quit drinking

7) Managing or getting out of debt

8) Learning something new

9) Volunteering/helping others

10) Getting organized

lol at least go fora 1920x1080 since you already did it. new year's plans and stuff are BS. change cant be forced, you have the entire year to make all the differences and changed you want in your life.

1. Lose the holiday gut.

2. Get a job.

3. Get a 4.0 next semester.

4. Actually read plenty of books this year. (This one is slowly but surely becoming top priority. I'm almost an illiterate bum at this point.)

That's about it for now. I could add "get a girlfriend," but I don't really think that should have the same sort of timeframe.

I usually just think of it as an opportunity to reflect on how to better myself. For next year I'm going to try to be more honest.

That's all it is - a way for people to look inward and see what sort of things about themselves aren't up to par, and make an honest decision to want to improve those things in the next year; it could also just being something you are willing to dedicate yourself to accomplishing.

Well, I see bettering yourself. But I don't get the point of the Resolution being a "New Year's one", that is why can't someone make the resolution in March or November or etc?

I think it's mostly psychological - new year, new beginning, etc.

I guess this would be mine as well. I never live up to my New Years resolutions, which is a shame. It seems like ever since it became common knowledge that most people give up on their New Years resolutions, more and more give up on them just to live the tradition.

I don't think I've ever kept a resolution, however...:

I'm trying to stop biting my nails right now, so I'll tack that onto the list. I've been trying for the past month with mixed results. It's better than any attempt so far, so I'll just keep making a concerted effort.

Keep better contact with some of my friends.

Maybe. But Why would I make a resolution a week after Christmas. If I wanted to change my life or something, I'de probably start a little further away from Christmas.

I totally forgot about resolutions. Mine would be pretty simple though. Learn more songs on the piano, learn more Japanese, continue getting good grades in college, and hopefully learn how to drive better.

Not really a New Year's resolution, it just happens to be the time I'm starting. I'm going to start developing my new business, start a regular workout schedule, and play with my brand new niece.
