It's that time of year to start thinking about them. What are yours?

FYI, some of the most common resolutions are:
1) Spending more time with family
2) Exercising more
3) Losing weight
4) Quitting smoking
5) Enjoying life more
6) Quit drinking
7) Managing or getting out of debt
8) Learning something new
9) Volunteering/helping others
10) Getting organized
1. Lose the holiday gut.
2. Get a job.
3. Get a 4.0 next semester.
4. Actually read plenty of books this year. (This one is slowly but surely becoming top priority. I'm almost an illiterate bum at this point.)
That's about it for now. I could add "get a girlfriend," but I don't really think that should have the same sort of timeframe.
I usually just think of it as an opportunity to reflect on how to better myself. For next year I'm going to try to be more honest.I don't get the point of New Year's Resolutions.

That's all it is - a way for people to look inward and see what sort of things about themselves aren't up to par, and make an honest decision to want to improve those things in the next year; it could also just being something you are willing to dedicate yourself to accomplishing.I don't get the point of New Year's Resolutions.

Well, I see bettering yourself. But I don't get the point of the Resolution being a "New Year's one", that is why can't someone make the resolution in March or November or etc?

Gonna try, again, to stop smoking. Really, really, need to for my health this time.btaylor2404
I don't think I've ever kept a resolution, however...:
I'm trying to stop biting my nails right now, so I'll tack that onto the list. I've been trying for the past month with mixed results. It's better than any attempt so far, so I'll just keep making a concerted effort.
Keep better contact with some of my friends.
I think it's mostly psychological - new year, new beginning, etc. Maybe. But Why would I make a resolution a week after Christmas. If I wanted to change my life or something, I'de probably start a little further away from Christmas.[QUOTE="whipassmt"]Well, I see bettering yourself. I am leaning towards this myself...I've given up on Resolutions since I never end up keeping them.
