I think that's fatalism, not nihilism.

EDIT: In fact, this entire thread has fatalism confused with nihilism.

"total rejection of established laws and institutions." = closer to nihilism. It's about rejecting society's values and making your own based on your own experience and logic. And yes, I'm a nihilist by that definition.

Nihilism in it's purest means 'nothing' -- it's not about raging against the machine, not really, nihilism is the rejection of meaning, purpose and perhaps truth.

Yea, by nihilism but that definition is cheesy and redundant. And is pretty much identical to fatalism.

I guess you could call me a nihilist, but I think we've all got a lot to live for.

I'm a happy guy, so I don't know where the stereotype that all nihilists are sad, broken people comes from - probably The Big Lebowski.
