Hey all,

Just what the hell does the above mean? I hear people saying things like "being gay is ok, as long as they don't push their lifestyle on others.". I have never found it a problem that homosexuals somehow get in the way of me living my heterosexual life, and I can't imagine how that could happen.

I'm guessing the people saying this are mostly homophobes wanting homosexuality suppressed to where they can pretend it does not exist.

Please state your opinions.

PS. Gamespot censored the words gay "gays" and even "homosexual" and "homosexuals", hence the weird title.

haha, it's totally pathetic when ignoramus, stupid straight people consider themselves "NORMAL" and every other kind of people "BAD", not different like blonde and brunette, but "this second, worse CHOICE, disgusting and stuff". gosh I can't listen to that crap! what has being gay with lifestyle? being gay doesn't turn you to metal/skate/emo, republican/fascist/communist, omg anything.. it's just LOVE. heterosexual idiots (only idiots, I don't want to be rude to all straight people, only these homophobic ones I don't respect) say that gay people "promote" homosexuality and other stupid things - and what is this promoting? that they hold hands or kiss each other? and don't heterosexuals do that in public, too? oh, sorry, but they're NORMAL, I forgot; and every other person that loves somebody is eeevil, because it doesn't matter if they DO love anybody, only important thing is WHO they love, not how, why... gotta repeat that - PATHETIC. showing love by straight - "ohh, cute, they love each other!", showing love by gay - "hey, you, why are you pushing your LIFESTYLE on me?!".

I believe that's generally what is said by straight people who still believe that homosexuals are looking to pounce on anything of the same gender. "As long as he doesn't try to f*** me, we're cool, bro", etc. It is also said, rather ironically, by heterosexuals who are adamantly against the legalization of gay marriage.

Its sugar coated homophobia. My friends says the exact same thing. "I'm not homophobic, I have some gay friends. But if they get near me...." etc etc He acts as if he will get gay-ed up and his thing will fall off.....

A friend of a friend of mine once said that to me. He said all was okay as long as I didn't hit on him. Well, I assured him he's so butt-ugly that the mere thought of me being intimate with him made me throw up a little in my mouth.

I think it depends on the country, too, you know people have different opinions because other stuff is being shown on tv, they hear other things in their childhood. My country is totally catholic and full of hypocrites and ignoramuses, there's no possibility of registering gay partnership here and gay marriage" is like some heresy (marriages from other countries like Netherlands are like invalid here). Sure it's better than in countries with Islam but gahh, conventional wisdom has such a low level here. So it's not weird that most people are homophobes... Sorry for my english

I guess they mean that they dont want gay people pushing their ideals onto them, persuading them that their life style is fine despite the other person's belief, and in some cases trying to "convert" them. I've had a gay guy hit on my knowing I was straight and I did not apperciate it after he didn't get the hint the first time.

Personally I dont care if you're gay bi, or straight, I treat everyone all the same and mind my own business. I just don't appreciate someone trying to convert me to their sexual preference.

Actually I just don't apperciate people telling me what I /have/ to do or /should/ do in general..

I don't really get it, either. I've talked to a few people who didn't "hate gays" but felt uncomfortable around them, and they all made it clear hell would break loose if a gay-man hit on them.

Gays aren't sex-hungry predators out to get straight men. And so what if a gay-man tried flirting with you? My husband's been hit on a few times, and I've had a couple of lesbians act interested, and we both had fun with it. Nothing to panic over.

I'm friends with a couple of homosexuals. One actually came out to me, but made it clearly that he wasn't going to come on to me. There's also a guy who I work with and plays on my softball team; he doesn't broadcast the fact that he's gay but he does sometimes bring a "friend" to work parties and games and we all pretty much know.

They are under the misconception that all gay people fornicate with one another on sight. Some could operate with this M.O. but not all. Hell, I think straight people are way worse with this.

No, I find it irritating, much in the same way that ultra-jocks are irritating when they get all amped up, or when women who think they are in an episode of The Hills on steroids turn up. In the same way, I would say I don't mind you watching the Hills, but don't get "all up in my grill" with your Hills attitude. I have no aversion to people's orientation, in fact I know a few non-straight people. This is just my opinion and I am entitled to it. I don't think that makes me a homophobe.

I think it's stupid. I've heard this all through high school and still even at my job. "It's cool that he's gay as long as he doesn't hit on me." It's not like we hit on or find every single male attractive.
