Wow. I really thought I would pass. But the guy said I didn't "scan" enough, which I know I did because that is what they said the first time! That is the exact thing I was focusing on the whole test. Maybe I am not making it obvious enough? What do I do?

Extend the range of your long range scans, maybe by tying them in to your main deflector dish.

I don't know how much sympathy you're going to get. Most of us have to put up with bad drivers all day, so one less bad driver on the road is a good thing.

I just wonder where the OP is from. Driving tests aren't that simple in every country.

One must eventually come to the conclusion that driving (and scanning, for that matter) is not for everyone. You might have to accept that you'll be relegated to being a passenger as you now have exhibited on at least 2 occasions that you do not have the aptitude to perform the simple exercise of driving an automobile.

I am from the USA...you know scanning as in checking for traffic and whatnot....Which I know I did, and was doing the entire time! I think it just must be that he can't see me doing it... And I know how to drive. Seriously I am looking at the paper and all of my mistakes(except passing the limit line once), where Traffic Check aka scanning...Which is what happened the 1st time. I know I was doing it the first time too, so the second time I said I have to make it more obvious to the instructor what I am doing. And I thought I did that.

:| It just means looking around. For people, for cars, etc. It's not a defined term you need to know. TC probably changed lanes without checking mirrors, or blind spots.

You have to make it very conspicuous. Don't just move your eyes; the examiner can't see that. Move your entire head.

Then he's a lying sack of ****. You can do whatever you want during the test. You're the driver! If he's yapping too much, you're allowed to tell him to shut up. Literally. If you want to point something out to him, you have every right to do so. I'd take it up with his supervisor.

Failed my bike test twice, I ride better without someone monitoring me, I am a good rider too.. but this is the UK, it's a lot different here.
My mate was failed because he was not using the bus lane, now that's strict.

make sure you are checking your mirrors every 10-15 sec and when you lane change and come to a stop. Also make sure you look down side streets make it obvious but not too obvious show some head movement

Sometimes it's just a few little things that cause people to fail. It's not like they're causing multi-car wrecks on the highway. My friend has failed twice because the woman who gave him the test was racist.

Somehow I think the organization that employs her would notice a trend. Your friend is probably failing because he can't drive and doesn't realize it.

I had an elderly woman as my tester. I opened the door for her and was cautious. I guess I did okay because I used to play a lot of driving games, like Need For Sped Hot Pursuit, Sega GT 2002 and Gran Turismo. And Driver.

It mattered that I won.

Wow not really sure how you can fail a driving test. I missed one question on the written. You have to get 80% or above to pass that in Iowa. My final grade on the actual driving test was perfect. On the first day, I had problems parking to the right but the instructor fixed that quickly and I aced the rest.

Nah... he's a pretty good driver, he just did a few little things wrong. The instructor said she was "having a bad day" and called him on everything, even though he wasn't doing anything wrong. I also know two other kids who said she failed them because they were black and Mexican (this friend is Asian). She almost always passes the white kids on the first try.

Hopefully you won't have the same guy the next time. Some of them can be real douches (I would be if I had the same occupation). I failed my first test. The guy who failed me drove every day over 100km to work because no one closer to where he lived wanted to hire him. And I heard he was fired a few weeks after failing me. Thanks to the douche I had to pay 200 euros for extra lessons.

Never knew so many people didn't pass the first time.....anyway, if you don't check for traffic that is a quick fail. It causes accidents when not completing a test.
