You make it seem like were back in the Pearl Harbor attack days. Even if Obama doesn't want to act right away, we have more then enough troops over seas along with anti-nuke/missile defense that would stop a pre-emptive attack. I mean right now we have cloose to 20,000 troops in South Korea as well as other US troop bases in that region. How do you know Obama would do that? Whenever I read one of these threads, it seems like the consensus is 'If they launch, they can look forward to their country becoming one large sheet of glass the next day'. But would this really happen? Don't misunderstand, I find Kim's plutonium-flavoured sabre-rattling as contemptible as the next sane person, but in the event that the Dear Leader fell over and hit his head on something sharp and sent his missiles winging their way towards US soil, would the US really respond in kind? Among other things I doubt that the Chinese would appreciate a nuclear slam-dunk right on their doorstep.

I honestly cant say if he is bluffing or not, to attack the US and her allies is suicide effectively, but how long does kim have left.

Actually they are in a better financial position than we are. We could never afford to anger the Chinese or they could sell their bonds and destroy the USD and Treasuries. That would turn the U.S. into a hyperinflated Third World country and America would most likely go into chaos. Plus, they have a monetery surplus and the world's greatest manufacturing base(The U.S.'s is nothing like it used to be). They could find another buyer of their goods over time.As much as we are important to them, they could ultimately live without us.

They have one country (China)that finds their presence a useful check against the Western southeast Asian presence, but if North Korea started nuking guys, China would be the first country to smack them. China has absolutely no interest whatsoever in a war against the Western world.

Er, not quite. :P Their population is around 20 million. They actually have the fifth largest standing army in the world, largely due to the fact that over 20% of the eligible population is in the military.

Of course, numbers don't mean a whole lot when your technology and financesareas badas North Korea's.

well I would laugh but the idea of the day coming that everyone underestimates the enemy and bad things happen that's how war starts people thinking things can't happen and then....they do. I feel that I should never have children because the end of the world in my life time seems inevitable.
