I think we start over as a baby. The cycle continues until the end of time. I'm scared though, what if there is nothing after we die?

I get the feeling there has to be something after death, I just have no clue what. So I just live my life without worrying about things like that.
I'm like you on that one. People are either saying "what do you think will happen on 2012 December 21?" or "what will you do when December 21, 2012 gets here?". I'm sick of it. When you die then you'll either go to heaven or hell. When judgement day does come, the good people will go to heaven and the bad ones will go to hell and burn FOREVER.why are there so many death threads these days.

I guess this is true^^. I just don't like the feeling of leaving some of the most beautiful memories and moments behind on Earth. Even though there are a bunch of bad things happening, there is still a lot of beauty on this planet.cluclapSo stop worrying and enjoy it while you're still here!:)

What if your conscience is still around to experience the nothingness? :o Man that's a scary thought. the conscience trapped in the rotting corpse for eternity... and if u are buried... :-(So experiencing nothing is still something? Aw man, now I'm confused. :cry:Well, then there is something after we die.

Whoa, u weren't supposed to see that :PThere are many answers to this question. Some logical, some illogical, some scientific, some religious. But really, you're more than likely not going to find the correct answer on the off-topic board of a video game forum.savebatteryBest reply of the day.
People are afraid of nothing? Talk about irrational feelings. How can you be afraid of non-existence? It's absolutely incomprehensible. You're not there to witness it.
hopefully nothing eternal.
i like the concept of reincarnation, but even that supposedly ends once one reaches nirvana or enlightenment iirc.
Some ppl don't want to, you know....stop existing. Just a thought.People are afraid of nothing? Talk about irrational feelings. How can you be afraid of non-existence? It's absolutely incomprehensible. You're not there to witness it.

any one who says that there is nothing after death is fooling himself. Its only a matter of time until we all know for sure.GazaAliAnyone's speculation about the potential afterlife/whether or not there is an afterlife is equally right or equally wrong. Not one of us knows for sure, so no one is more right or more wrong.
any one who says that there is nothing after death is fooling himself. Its only a matter of time until we all know for sure.GazaAliIt could just as easily be said that the one who says there is something is fooling himself. No one has experienced true death besides the already deceased.

I see the world white and black, meaning that there is only one right answer to something like this. we can all say whatever we want about after death, but the truth has one face only, and we all going to see that face eventually. i always say its only a matter of time.
[QUOTE="Assassin1349"] So that means they are afraid to die. Not actually afraid of nothing. Just a thought. Dystopian-XIf death=nothingness, it means they don't want to be nothing. Therefore afraid of becoming it. It doesn't matter weather you are going to experience it then or not, what matters is refusing such notion now.Death is termination not nothingness. Nothing cannot be experienced. Once all your senses are gone - that's it. Back to the time before you were born. Can't remember it too well? Me neither.
Any continues? You get a certificate for beating the game life. Sometimes you get a GAME OVER sign :(

The TC clearly asked: what if there is nothing after we die? Let's not play semantics or you'll have to edit your first post. ;P
Second, I already stated that it's not about being or not able to experience nothingness it's about the fear of becoming nothing or I should, say losing your consciousness.

Human tendency is to seek solace and escape fear by creating such ideas as reincarnation. But honestly, if reincarnation did exist, we would never know. Our thoughts and memories in this life would be erased.LiftedHeadshot
Don't you mean escape fear and seek solace by creating such things as Heaven? As a believer of reincarnation, I find it a terrifying belief to hold, as I look around at all the horrors capable in our world and think to myself, "....just the luck of the draw....". Ultimately, the situations we find ourselves in this life stem from blind luck, nothing more, and being reborn guarantees nothing. It's a frightening thing to contemplate, and it's not a belief I particularly enjoy holding. Who would wish to live again, especially as a freakin' cow in a slaughterhouse waiting for its throat to be cut?
No thanks.

Any continues? Sadely, no. God really needs to patch life, it hasn't been updated since A.D.[QUOTE="GazaAli"]I see the world white and black, meaning that there is only one right answer to something like this. we can all say whatever we want about after death, but the truth has one face only, and we all going to see that face eventually. i always say its only a matter of time.t3hrubikscubeEventually, yes, but that doesn't mean that anyone's speculations are more or less foolish for the time being. And that is the fear of death. Permanently loosing consciousness...[QUOTE="MoonMarvel"]Nobody knows what happens.GabuEx
Well, I would wager that any dead person knows what happens, but the problem is that asking them about it is quite a trick. :P
Perhaps they don't either because they lack a functioning brain to think about it. That's assuming I'm right about death of course.[QUOTE="MoonMarvel"]Nobody knows what happens.GabuEx

Just have a Séance. :PAnd then what's to become of our consciousness after death if we lose it for good? The 'nothing' the TC (and you) implied in the post was clearly this. And that is the fear of death. Permanently loosing consciousness...
Assassin1349
It's not really all that irrational as you claimed.
I think the biggest problem in this whole notion is the semantics of it all. We all know what death is, but NOBODY can define nothingness. The human mind can't comprehend it.
Is it just pure white or black and silent? It doesn't matter. That's still SOMETHING.
Nobody wants life to simply end. Other than the obivious fear of death in this case the thing people fear more than anything else is the unknown. Sadly, anyone who's moved on from this this life isn't exactly in the position to tell us what happens. Perhaps this in itself is an answer?
No one knows. Unfortunately, when you finally find out...for one reason or another...you won't be able to tell anyone.
