I just got this in my inbox
CNN's Anderson Cooper reports on the disturbing issue.

So, is it politics or legitimate federal concerns?

He's done literally nothing to solve the problem. He's simply trying to save his own ass at this point.
That's doesn't seem right. I have no idea why he did that.
What happened about Freedom of the Press?

BP has a powerful lobby.

What do you think he should do?
Looks like they are getting closer to fixing it http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/07/12/bp-robots-assemble-undersea-oil-cap-gulf-coast-residents-watch-warily/dave123321How will we ever know if they do fix it? If nobody can film it, all we can do is take their word for it?
He mentions that you can get closer if you have permission; I'm wondering what the procedure is for that and how arduous it is.

Well, you have to get past private security, BP officials, the government, and relief workers. Going by that, it would be easy to say that there's a giant net of red tape to go through to continue reporting like they were before this.

'Freedom' of the Press will be thrown right out the window if said 'Freedom' might in some way make the Administration look bad... Yeah, I know. But I mean...I thought somewhere there was something against this type of procedure?[QUOTE="Silverbond"]

Not get political and thereby making people more suspicious and radicalizing opponents.
How does that solve the problem in the Gulf?

I agree Obama is terrible.
It's not just Obama, it would be the same if it was any other politician.

I'd like to see him put some actual effort into stopping the oil flow and punish those who are responsible as opposed to going on television, saying he's going to "kick ass", and then not actually doing anything.
I always said I would call bs iff I saw it and I'm callling bs on this. although my computer is moving abnormally slow right now so I might change my mind once I actually get to see the video. Kinda doubt it though.

Cooper's report says that you need to get permission from the Coast Guard captain of the Port of New Orleans; that doesn't seem at face value like a huge amount of red tape.
Ohh man, i guess at this point Obama is just giving up. The Tea party will eat this up and spin it so that Obama wiped his *** with the constitution. Which he did.
Should have just nuked the well after the 1st week.
Fizzman
No doubt.
I hate how the disaster that was Bush led to Obama. Who knows what kind of extreme nutjob will be the next president?
He mentions that you can get closer if you have permission; I'm wondering what the procedure is for that and how arduous it is.GabuExAll Anderson said was that you have to speak directly to the Coast Guard Captain of New Orleans. I'm also wondering exactly how simple that is.

Enacting legislation saying that BP must pay anything and everything required for cleanup and compensation isn't punishing those responsible?
Drilling relief wells and putting a new cap on the leak isn't putting actual effort into stopping the oil flow?
What are you looking for?

But enough to be concerning, as far as I see it.
i agree with this quote.
" Obama isn't to blame, YOU are.
Our life demand that we pump more and more oil out of the Earth. So, we go deeper and deeper into the ocean. As long as we'll all pay for our DVD cases, and nylons, and gasoline, people will harvest that oil and sell it to us.
When a lot of us have to face that truth, we get angry. We demand that heads roll, but we refuse to take the blame ourselves. So we look for a scapegoat.
Obama's just another scapegoat."
100% Politics. He's right, it'll be easier to hide mistakes. Luckily for the government, most of the public doesn't care anyway.supercubedude64Unfortunately this is very true.

I agree it's strange, although I would be curious to hear the official justification for it, as well as how easy it is to get permission from the Coast Guard captain, before making any hard judgment on the matter.

That's . . . bizarre. But how is this getting to GS 11 or 12 days after CNN reported it? scorch-62
Isnt it obvious? havent you notice how timid people tend to be when the side they advocate does something wrong or lie? They are always willing to give the people they support the benefit of the doubt, but they will never show the opposition the same courtesy.
Its true. Political parties are about organizing HATRED
Obama makes me sick....
All I can say is that I didn't vote for him. Unlike most Americans, I actually looked at his past instead of simply believing the lies he was spewing while he was running.

Surely you jest. :P
Wait... did Obama directly order this, or was it an action taken directly by the Coast Guard? Because if it's the latter then this topic is extremely misleading. And it looks like you only have to get permission from the captain of the New Orleans Coast Guard to get close...chessmaster1989
Coast Guard, it would seem.
edit - Also . . .

I have heard about reporters being intrusive at times with the relief workers, which will more than likely be part of the official justification, but I would not take the official statement as clear, unbiased truth.
However, if videos showing the process of getting through these barriers comes up then they would be a good tool for testing the validity of the official statement.
