It came from the Coast Guard, not the administration, and is a fairly routine procedure...

[QUOTE="TheGreatOutdoor"]I don't even know what "The News Hour" is. I was actually talking about the Wallstreet Journel and the New York Times. Especially The New York Times. I wouldn't use that mag to wipe my ass with.

testfactor888

 now I know you're joking, the NYT is a newpaper. And because the news sections of WSJ and NYT are some of the most respected in the country... well... I don't know what to say.

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/

The New York Times is liberal trash and it is not the most respected in the country

The way they keep spilling the beans on things they shouldn't be talking about, I actually consider them terrorist. After all the crap they keep talking about that they should be keeping their mouth shut on always ends up helping the terrorist over there anyways.

You say that as though you think Obama directly orders everything in the military. I'm not sure how you could think this. Really, that's just laughable LJ.

Why would Obama have anything to say about a standard procedure by the Coast Guard? The implication that he's letting it happen because it's convenient is just absurd.

Good to see this thread has come full circle; from demonising the left for obstructuing freedom of the press to demonising the left for not obstructing freedom of the press. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't, huh?

The fact that the thread title remains untouched after it's been pointed out several times that Thad Allen ordered the ban and that, as of last night, Thad Allen made an exception in the ban for credentialed reporters disappoints me.

Flip flopping? Obama gets targeted for calling BP British Petroleum and now the Government puts up this new law. All I see and read is that this is a government initiative. I'd like to know from where this law actually came from, who put it forth. Was it actually Obama or was it elsewhere?

I agree with you, typically alot of the liberals or left wing nuts fall back on 2 things when they lose an argument. They call you ignorant or say you are a racist when you put down Obama. They will basically defend him no matter what he does.

I am pretty must against the far left wing as I am the far right wing. Both go to far in my opinion. I consider myself near the middle of the spectrum. I really don't like Obama though =o

No, once IKEA stores appeared in America, it was only a matter of time before it became the next great communist state. It is all a part of Sweden's endlessly devious plan to take over the world...

[QUOTE="kayoticdreamz"][QUOTE="Serraph105"] these responses are why I wish the TC would edit the topic title.Serraph105

I watched the video it was pretty clear press cant come within 65 feet and some stuff can only be seen upclose thereby limiting the press which is supposed to be unlimited. sorry stop defending censorship it makes me sick

I agree, but it was not Obama that made the order (it was the coast guard), the order has since been taken, and the official reason was about safety. that last reason is especially important because it means without true evidence all this talk about censorship is just speculation.

As I have said before its not speculation without reason, but it simply cannot be proven further than that.

you sure dont sound like you agree with me... and who commands the coast guard? ah yes obama. considering this is such a radical move i highly doubt obama didnt know about it but then again what happened to all promises about transparancy in government....another lie why am i not shocked. never mind the 1st amendment and im pretty sure the 1st amendment doesnt include "except in cases of safety" meaning that reason is BS and still violates freedom. and theres evidence on CNN at that a hardcore leftist news station which is even more ironic. and i dont care if they took back the order it was still censorship even if only briefly i mean what are we going to start having press blackouts? in america? with a 1st amendment? seriously? our founders are probably crying in there graves right now.

I think its good the US government is consistent. Let me illustrate: Republicans are in charge, the rights of the common citizen are violated. Democrats are in charge, the rights of the common citizen are violated.

i agree with this quote.

" Obama isn't to blame, YOU are.
Our life demand that we pump more and more oil out of the Earth. So, we go deeper and deeper into the ocean. As long as we'll all pay for our DVD cases, and nylons, and gasoline, people will harvest that oil and sell it to us.
When a lot of us have to face that truth, we get angry. We demand that heads roll, but we refuse to take the blame ourselves. So we look for a scapegoat.
Obama's just another scapegoat."

lVlonster_X

Well of course by now it's typical American attitude to blame others rather than ourselves as that quote puts it. perhaps because it hurts to acknowledge that we contribute more than any other nation on earth when it comes to demand of oil due to our lifesty1e which are well beyond our means whether bad economy or not. or perhaps it's because Americans dont bother to think critically, as most my fellow citizens seem to convince themselves that thinking critically is regurgitation what you read in school/newpapers/online or hear on tv/radio. whatever it is, as long as it's more comfortable for them, they sleep better at night and can look at themselves in the mirror

but this isnt an indivual situation this is like the millionth non capitalist thing that has been done in the past 2 years much less since FDR's new deal weve been doing nothing but anti capitalist stuff its wonder capitalism isnt completely dead yet. start watching FOX and CNN then compare the two instead of just worshiping CNN/NBC and bashing FOX. since if you cant see this youve obviously only heard one side of the story whereas ive heard both and most FOX viewers has heard both two and come to the conclusion that right wing less government is better. heck you could say im a right wing convert ive only been conservate for 2 years or so and only because 3 or 4 years ago my history teacher in college nixed the history program and just read the communist manifesto then show us the newspaper and said see its the same thing there doing look where it came from. it was rather eye opening i must say. and in case we thought he was a liar he passed the book around so we could read it.

I think you missed the first line of my post.

Also everyone who mentions communism is completely discredited to my eyes at this point since many european nations are socialistic but have stopped there. They havent "fallen" into communism.

Shouting about socialism is just alarmism (one that I dont understand since socialism isnt bad at all) but shouting about communism is flat-out absurd.

Simple reasoning is simple, that's why it's not fun to read.

Also, so your reasoning is "He's not on our side, therefore, he is on the other ideological side"? He could be from the political center as well, y'know, false dilemmas aren't cool

[QUOTE="kayoticdreamz"] and im not its quite clear hes a hardcore leftist which = some crazy mix of communism/fascism/socialismkayoticdreamz

Uhh... no, he's not a "hardcore leftist"... far from it. :|

sorry hardcore rightist dont pass 2000 page bills at 6 AM and sign them into law and do this 8 times is it now? in the past 2 years. hardcore rightist like myself oppose such things. but thanks for telling me what i beleive.we rightist also oppose government healthcare higher taxes and presidents mishandling oil spills and of course bowing and apologizing to every world leader and sitting in a church that bashes our country for 20 years. so he cant be from the right so he must be from the left....simple reasoning is fun.

Maybe he is neither a hardcore rightist or a hardcore leftist.

Just a thought...

I dont know how you thought of presenting with this false dichotomy which would serve to discredit Obama altogether since he is neither. Unfortunately for you that train of thought is non-sensical.

Yeah cause the left wing fanatics never lie... ever o.O testfactor888

Actually, I think she and the other die hards are just scared about the truth and where things are going. Lashing out and name calling comforts them and focus their attention away from reality.

I agree with you, typically alot of the liberals or left wing nuts fall back on 2 things when they lose an argument. They call you ignorant or say you are a racist when you put down Obama. They will basically defend him no matter what he does.

i just find it funny not even twenty posts higher the people i was argueing with couldnt counter my points so resorted to what you just said they would calling me ignorant LOL self pwnage much. way to go testfactor888 for calling it.

Typically, I find both the left and right are so hopelessly biased that discussion is usually pointless. It is a shame, more do not listen to the wisdom of Washington's farewell address, wherein he highlighted the dangers of blindly following a political party...

The term "Corporate America" comes to mind here. This is disappointing. As a Gulf coast resident, I have approved Obama and the actions he has taken at this crisis; but not anymore. From Pensacola, FL: **** you Mr. President.

You didn't read the post that said Thad Allen, which is a funny way of spelling Barack Obama, ordered the ban and later pulled it back for credentialed media, eh?

Yeah, I know how you feel. The continuation of warmongering is what disappointed me. I'm tired of hearing from the apologists on why the dramatic increase of drone strikes, patriot act, threats against Iran etc is somehow bad under Bush, but good under Obama.

I missed it. So will Obama be deeming what is "credentialed" and what isn't?
