I have every right to a firearm, and if someone disagrees, fine. I don't mind a LITTLE control, none is not a good idea, but overly heavy control is just as bad as no control if not worse.

If someone who disagrees tries to take my gun, then we have a problem, and I'm going to resolve it.

The amendments were additions to the original articles of the Constitution. It's not like they changed the whole thing 27 times. All of the original articles are still very relevant and must be used as the guidelines for how America is ran.

Then I guess the next step is to outlaw cars because they cause death. Then after that we can get rid of alcohol because it makes people stupid, and stupid decisions follow. And then we should just ban going outside since the sun can cause skin cancer.

i know how amendments work, that doesn't change how its still an archaic document. Or are you seriously suggesting that its references to trading with "Native Tribes" and gold and silver coins are relevent today? They aren't. Theres no real reason to bother changing them because they are simply irrelevent and not worth the hassle to change due to inconsequence.

Many parts of it are good. Some, not so good. And a few are completely irrelevent today.

Especially considering you keep changing the context of it's meaning. The bill of rights are pretty clear that the intent of holding arms is for a militia, not to "protect yourself from burglary" like you suggested.

So, how about this? Since you love bringing up that outdated document so much, then why dont we allow arms, but only to citizens registered in a militia, since thats the context that the constitution was about? Using your gun for non-militia purposes should be a punishable crime. After all, the constitution is so important, and we should never change the original text to fit modern needs.

The entire point of having police carry guns is to offer a safer alternative than having everyone in the country resorting to protecting themselves with firearms.

For all of those examples, sans alcohol and cars, the only person who is effected is the user. You can't really injure someone with meat. With a gun however... well...

Police are not required by law to save your life and response times in urban let alone rural areas are unlikely to save you from an immediate threat.
