Today I had a rather frightening discussion with a coworker of mine about his thoughts on what's to come when Obama takes office. He believes that people are going to revolt and a new civil war will emerge. He's even told me that he bought several assualt rifles already so that he is prepared. Do any of you believe that something like a revolution could happen? Are there any findings in the news today that might support the idea that people are preparing for war?
The United States has managed to survive just fine transitioning from one leader to the next numerous times. I swear you'd think this was some people's first inauguration where one party passes the presidency to the next. :roll:
There is a 99.9% chance that what your co-worker said will never happen. Now I suggest you attempt to educate your co-worker, or you stop listening to his theories :P

To be honest with you I would welcome a revolution or civil war. My generation has not great conflict, and despite all the little joys I have in my life I find it boring lol.

Obama's approval ratings are close to 70% His "strongly disapproves" are below 20%. The nation loves the guy and can't wait to exchange Bush for him. People might riot, but in the sense of utter jubilation when he takes office.
i think that history is repeating itself and we are heading towards another great depression. the exact same stuff thats happening now with the economy happened back in the 20's only with the stock market. im not saying anything, but id stock up on stuff just in case things start to go south.
Anyone who seriously believes that a civil war will take place upon Obama's taking the oath of office is encouraged by me personally not to reproduce. Our goal as a species should be to improve with each generation after all.

Ok now that's nuts. There will be an extreme celebration which will=happiness. Dear god I hope he doesn't have to help with surgery's or anything. Seriously.
I think there will be a revolt, but not for a while....and not because of Obama. I think there was a better chance of it happening under Bush than Obama. I would give it 10-15 years though before we see significant civil unrest.
