What I'm saying is that is just as much of a silly complaint to try and scrutinize him and this lil' lip slip of his is ?

But of course you either can't comprehend that or choose not to.

airshocker

That's your opinion. I believe it shows a fundamental lack of respect for the military.

lol these politicians use our servicemen and women and make them die for everything other than the right reason and you're more offended by some name being mispronounced?

A name wasn't mispronounced. He confused who he gave the medal to, after having a big ceremony and party for Staff Sergeant Giunta. That's a big deal to me.

I'd rather Obama have a little slip up like this, than have a major **** up.

Give a man a break.

You're that affected by Washington's very own soap opera? How is that detrimental to you? You say he clearly doesn't care about the awards and people he's handing them too, but tell me of one recent president that has actually cared about any of that(Eisenhower, ... maybe Reagan?).

Exactly. Since it is Obama though, he gets a pass on it as if nothing happened.

There are certain things service members want from a President, to be truthful, give orders that make sense and to get whom they award the highest award for honor named properly and not screw who he awarded it to up. Obama screwed up not a mispronunciation but got the name wrong. This is a major error on his part and not just a flub. Obama has always had a disdain for the military and it shows, the irony is he needs them to get him from point A to B in his travels. I wonder how long it will be before members of the details for Marine One start facing other directions, as they did with President Clinton, to show their displeasure.

How does a verbal gaffe show that Obama has always had a disdain for the military? What are you basing that off of?

Also, as for members of Marine One not saluting Clinton; that'd be false.

Perhaps, but then again Bush did have a string of idiotic episodes one after the other that he just seemed to have no immunization for.

I find this pretty ridiculous.. It was definitely face palm moment.. But how is this considered major error compared to what has happened through the years.. And the Iraq War isn't? Something that costs 3000 US lives, over 100k Iraqi civilian lives, and trillions of dollars on a reason that was found to be in fact incorrect.. A reason that before hand had contridictory evidence that was suppressed to ensure the war went through, on top of that of no afterwar plan what so ever.. This isn't trying to demonize a certain political party.. But seriously this is the act that they can't handle now?

I dunno, man. I made a verbal gaffe the other night when banging* my girlfriend; called her "Molly" instead of Jenny. Dunno what she's so pissed about either.

* Would have said the f-word here. However, I recently learned from the mods that you can say "f***" all you want, as long as you don't mean it sexually. Unfortunately, I am not making this up. F***ity f*** f*** f*** (non-sexual).

your acting like he started ww3 or something, he just messed up the names. HE'S A HUMAN, this doesn't mean he didn't care about the military, this guy is the leader of a nation, sure he got alot of things on his mind and stressed out. just chillax and i understand your military "this is directed to the TC" but my boss one time couldn't remember my name but i didn't trip, it was whatever, it was an honest mistake. Not like he was trying to forget my name it was a mistake, you can't trip on it especially when this has nothing to do with you.

It's a screwup, but not a major one. I'm sure the guy's got a lot on his mind, and that it was unintentional. His speech writer or assistant who briefed him before the event should have to do 10 pushups for every member of the 10th Mountain Division who died in the current war.

airshocker

I don't doubt it was a screw-up, but I don't think it speaks very highly of the President when he can't remember who he gave the Medal of Honor to. I even remember the last name of the guy who got it. I think the President should be able to as well. Just my two cents, though.

That will seem like a more reasonable argument to me when you have all the other responsibilities that come with the Oval Office

My thoughts exactly. People jumped all over him when he mispronounced "Nuclear" (and still torment him to this day about that) but Obama messing up a medal of honor is NP.

don't know why this is news worthy, **** happens.

Chris_Williams

Because Obama had a D by his name on the ticket.

Honestly, the people who loved Bush should love Obama and the people who didn't like Bush really shouldn't like Obama (which does not mean they should prefer McCain). He's really just more of the same. Oh, so they repealed DADT eventually...when they got around to it...because I guess it was complicated or something, and then there was the healthcare bill, but other than that...more of the same. Different speeches, pretty much the same ****ing policies.

So get ready to have your minds blown, people: I didn't like Bush, I didn't like what McCain was offering (and choosing the loon from Alaska as a running mate was just beyond my comprehension), and I don't much care for what Obama has done since he left the Senate. I'd still take him over McCain, but that choice is like asking if I'd prefer to be punched in the stomach or in the groin.

That's kind of how that analogy works. I said I'd prefer one over the other.

Bush? Considering him and his wife continually welcome them home and visit them at the military hospitals. I don't see Obama doing that.

S*** happens. The President has a lot on his mind always. The man's only human and as such prone to mistakes, and the amount of detail he has to process and try to keep track of must be staggering.

Then don't make a big deal about giving him the medal if you're going to forget about it. It was televised on every news station while it happened. This isn't some Bronze star we're talking about here. It's the Medal of Honor. If the President can't be bothered to take it seriously and remember who he gave it to in front of the nation, then don't have a big ceremony over it.airshocker
This. Civilians here are completely unaware of the significance of the Medal - it is one that only the President can present, and the Medal has so much stature that it is protected by both military and federal statutes (UCMJ and United States Code).
