Seems as though Obama, who's trying to sell America on his idea of hope to end poverty, won't even help out his own brother in a Kenyan slum:

http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/08/21/Magazine_Obama_brother_in_Kenyan_slum/UPI-25991219315656/

Really shows you the true colors of this man who wants to be president, doesn't it? John McCain on the other hand has actually brought orphaned children from third-world countries into his home and raised them.

How can you expect him to care what his half-brother-from-another-mother is doing.

It's still better than what McCain did to his own wife.

Obama actually met with him two years ago on a tour of Africa, and still he lets him live in a slum living on $1 a month. I don't know how anyone could meet theri brother and write about them, but not care enough to help them get out of a dangerous living situation.

Honestly i think Obama and McCain trying to end poverty is just stupid...there were poor people when the bible was made and before that and there always will be. The most we can do is just give them the ability to make more money and many do have that ability.

Yeah, the DemocRATS just last week were raising a fuss over CINDY McCain's half sister. They won't even stop at McCain, they have to go after his wife.

a)so if they had both parents in common, then you'd expect him to help him get out of poverty, but not just one parent?

b) then why doesn't obamessiah help him get out of poverty so he won't be ashamed any longer?

c) being on a different continent, this is understandable. obama obviously still considers him family, which is why he visited him. but did he help out his brother? nope. and now he wants the american people to believe he's anything but a self-serving hypocrite? good luck. we know the truth now.

Its quite funny, there are so many who call Obama elitist, and they really don't have any form of grounding for it.

Is it because he can speak English properly and you can't?

Is it because he doesn't act like a Cowboy, like so many other presidents?

And that soldier was raised with his family, is close to them, and acknowledges they are family in the first place. Bonds that Obama does not share with his half-brother.

I didn't know you had to give your family money to show that you cared. If he doesn't know the guy he doesn't know the guy. You can't force a relationship and you shouldn't be criticized because you don't want one. It is just people being petty.

a) The point is he isn't his brother. Their relation is more tenuous than that.

If Obama hadn't written about him in his book and visitied him in Africa, then it might be tenuous. But he himself aknowledges him as his brother, and still he doesn't get him out of poverty.

If this doesn't sink Obama, then i don't know what will. If the American people can read this and still vote for the man, then they deserve to have such a coldhearted person as their leader. Me, i'm going with McCain.

Although I don't like Obama and you are obviously going after him, I must intervine. Family has little to do with the candidate itself. There is so much more you could attack Obama on, stop wasting your time with his family.

So he's an elitist because of a comment he made? Do you know what it means to be an elitist? Do you know what type of background Obama has come from? Do you know that he spent years working as a civil worker in Chicago after he got his law degree. An elitist would not have done that.

I admit that this is wrong in ways. But how will this effect him in office and what he will do as President. That's like saying John McCain will not commit to what he promises America because of his first failed marriage. Or saying somehow he will "cheat" on America in some way... Crazy!

So he's an elitist because of a comment he made? Do you know what it means to be an elitist?

Yes: it's the belief that rich/intelligent/otherwise gifted people are the only ones who truly matter or who should have a meaningful opinion.

Do you know what type of background Obama has come from?

Yes, and I also know that his background is kinda irrelevant with what beliefs he holds today.

Do you know that he spent years working as a civil worker in Chicago after he got his law degree. An elitist would not have done that.

No?

He is the perfect example of the American Dream.

Why does this even matter? Why even bring up such a stupid argument that in no way affects the election? Ok, so Obama doesn't help out his half brother on another continent. Does this really prove he's been lying to us all about his promises for change?

Ok, let's spin it around. John McCain divorced his first wife because he was turning 40 and wanted to be like a 25 year old again. Thus, I say he has serious commitment issues and is uncapable of leading this country.

You see how silly these things sound? Do they really affect a candidates views or plans for the country? No.

I admit that this is wrong in ways. But how will this effect him in office and what he will do as President. That's like saying John McCain will not commit to what he promises America because of his first failed marriage. Or saying somehow he will "cheat" on America in some way... Crazy!Episode_Eve

Exactly what I was thinking. These smear attacks are getting out of hand. I don't like them with John McCain, and I don't like them with Obama. The lengths people will go to.

If you were living in the slums, you wouldn't want help?

Doesn't matter what I would want. Not everybody thinks along the same line.

Doesn't matter. If I saw my family living in such a dangerous situation, I would insist that they get help.

You can't help someone who doesn't want help.
