Everybody has that band they love that very few people have heard of. My personal obscure band would have to be The Frames. If I lived in Ireland everyone would know who i'm talking about, but in the U.S. nobody knows them. The solo acoustic version of 'Say it to me Now' is mindblowing. Check it out. Most bands that I listen to are fairly mainstream in the metal community but generally speaking they are fairly unknown. Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil... etc. though I do listen to a local band from Philly. The drummer is a junior at the college I go to. The band is called Outset. They have 2 CD's out. You could describe them as "California Pop"... kinda happy uplifting sounding songs.
I don't listen to too much that's truly obscure...I don't know, Bright Eyes, The Stills, Scary Kids Scaring Kids. I doubt those are real obscure though.
Attack in Black, TV on the Radio, Eagles of Death Metal, Bedouin Soundclash (although they've had a couple of hits), The Weakerthans, Ill Scarlett, K'naan, Spoon, Daft Punk (although everyone and their dog has heard most of "Harder Better Faster Stronger), Rocco Deluca and the Burden, Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
And I don't think many people have heard of The Pillows.Kritical_Strike
