Offspring vs Green Day

Two very popular punk rock bands, with Green Day arguably being the more popular. Also arguably, the worse of the two. They had a very lackluster couple CDS (Nimrod, Warning) before the hugely popular American Idiot. Offspring has pretty solid library, and stays more true to it's punk roots. It's actually quite rare to see 2 bands with 20+ years of playing music now days that don't have lots of lineup changes.

In my opinion, Ignition is better than anything Green Day has done.

What's OT's favorite?

I like Offspring, cuz of 'Pretty Fly For a White Guy.'

The Offspring definitely has better songs. But Bad Religion is better than both by far.

Seriusly, evreything pre American Idiot is the good green day stuff.

I thought they were terrible IMO. I personally only liked Dookie, American Idiot and 3 or 4 songs off the new cd. I really liked American Idiot though. But if you listen to Smash and Ignition, it is better than any Green Day. Of course it's all opinion.

Green Day, I find the Offspring to be much more obnoxious.

Offspring is better the Green Day, but if you want to talk punk, talk Dead Kennedies. Or bad religion. Both are true Punk. But yea.. on the question offspring is more to the roots then green day, as green day is more popish/selloutish of the two.

Although I don't really listen to any of them anymore, I used to be a pretty big fan of both of them. I have to go for Offspring, because Smash and Ixnay on the hombre was two of my favorite albums in the mid 90s. Never liked what they did later on though. Green Day are OK, and I especially like Dookie if only for nosalgic reasons.

Out of those two, Offspring. If you're interested in Punk Rock, there are quite a few (superior) bands to listen to if you have the time. :P

Offspring. The music is (collectively) better. Both hit me with a little bit of good old fashioned nostalgia.

Ilike Offspring more, favorite song by them is probably Special Delivery.

I'm not into pop punk. So neither.

Green Day had three stellar albums.

I think it's obvious what my choice is.

Agreed, Blink rules. :) Going only on Dookie I would have picked Green Day over them, but they did get pretty preachy with American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown.

The Offspring, but Dookie did more for me than any of The Offspring's albums.

I don't give a **** what people say on here, Dookie was a kickass album. I really liked a lot of The Offsprings stuff as well, (there early stuff rocked, new stuff, not so much) I guess I'll give it to Offspring, because they didn't release Wake me up when September ends.metallica_fan42

Amen. Dookie was, and still is one of my favorite albums of the 90s (behind Frizzle Fry of course). Same goes with Ignition and Smash.

Yeah, the Offspring, Green Day just had a couple good songs IMO and there's too many 13-year-old girls that listen to them
