If my old and ape-like history teacher is correct they also predicted the return of Quetzalcotal on the same day as Cortez, a a man of a similar description. I believe that the whole 'December 21st 2012' theory is true because of that.

Purchase? Why not genetically alter your own foot to be that large? Then if it works everyone will know you as the Giant Foot Guy (people aren't very creative with names) who saved the world, and you'll get all the ladies!

I have yet to see a source to support that they predicted the end of the world in 2012 or the downfall of their own civilization. History Channel, but i think it was more like they understood things as bad omens which led to their downfall and that in 2012 there will be some kind of shift in the universe.

"some people" believe the earth is flat. And if you give me the name of a specific show on the History Channel then that is fine. But simply saying "History Channel" doesn't work.
If the world ended everytime some random nut proclaimed it to be true, it would have already be destroyed 10,000 times over.

Well, the Mayans calculated the year to fractions of a second, we didn't accomplish that until the 1950s. So I put them above the "Random nut" catagory.
The thing you have to realize, is that you have no guarantee that you will live another year. You could step off the curb tomorrow and get hit by a runaway truck driven by the Incredible Hulk (my favorite cause of death). Just live your life to the fullest because even if the world does end then, so what. We all die sometime.
