The sad thing there is that it's pretty much the same thing. :P
Lol, I havent watched anime since um two years+ yet I guessed it was Bleach or Naruto harhar. I dont even watch Bleach, oh Im a good guesser.
Isn't filler like almost all of anime? :PJustPlainLucas
Shounen action anime, yes.
Even during the stretches of non-filler you're still better off watching something else imo :/
What the? Why would there be filler episodes in the first place? Is it common in animes that go on for a kajillion episodes to have write off episodes? Nifty_Shark
Of course it is. How do you think they manage to be that long and pretty much go on forever in the first place? :P
That's one of the main reasons I hate shounen anime (i.e. Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, DBZ), you usually get a real story arc or saga followed by one or more disposable filler arcs or sagas.

Besides anime or Shonen action anime?
[QUOTE="black_cat19"]You're wrong, not all shonen anime suck, some are amazing like Saint Seiya which is a classic.Ah, filler. Pretty much the main reason shonen anime sucks, besides being kiddy and derivative...
6_volts
Yeah, I know they don't all suck; Rurouni Kenshin and Saint Seiya are two of my favorites, even WITH the filler, but generally speaking... I'd rather not watch shounen if at all possible. :P

 I used to watch both of them every week. All of you should stop what you are doing right now and watch Gintama.
Sky-
Hm, I should schedule it in then. Since you really like it. I'm free later on so I might start watching it.

Yeah, the amazing thing about Saint Seiya is that they barely used any fillers except for the Asgard part, but it was so amazing that it didn't feel like a filler at all! :O[QUOTE="Velocitas8"]

The latter. There's a few good shounen anime out there, but that action-oriented stuff I just can't handle. It's boring.

Oh, ok, I agree with you there.

Yea I think drawn out action anime is boring as well, which is why I just stick to naruto and bleach manga instead of watching the anime but I'm losing interest there as it is also going kinda off.
Rurouni Kenshin was one of the worst culprits when it came to fillers. The entire final arc was fillers for goodness sake.
Sky-
Well, to be fair, the "Son of God" arc was the last thing I ever watched from Rurouni Kenshin, so that may explain why it remains one of my favorites to this day. :P

To be honest after shi shio everything was lulzy, I got throug son of god but then these wind guys came in the picture doing weird moves and I was like.. k time to stop watching this lol. Also reflections was pretty bad compared to the other ovas.

If you want a good bridge into seinen manga (on the whole much better imo), you should try something like "Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer" ("Hoshi no Samidare.") It has that shounen action setup/feel, but it's quite a bit more interesting in my opinion (though I'm not that far in, haven't been reading much lately.)
I don't really watch any series that drags out too long, Bleach included. (Though the FIRST Grimmjow fight with Ichigo was sick as sin) I stick to the animes that have interesting plots and don't rely on "TEH EPIC BATTLES". Any of you heard of Gankutsuou? No? Shame.ProjectTrinity
So only one season anime? 12-15 episodes animes? Usually the epic battle really falls short of the name no?

I don't watch any 100+ episode anime either.
I generally like to stick with either 1 or 2 season shows. Shows that drag out for longer generally lose a ton of quality due to the fact that they have to stretch the animation budget and the fact that they have a bunch of fillers.

Exactly.
I'll take Serial Experiments Lain, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Baccano!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Ga-Rei Zero, Full Metal Alchemist (best shounen ever with NO filler!), Chobits, etc., over any of those insanely long (and insanely boring) 500+ episodes and counting shounen animes anyday.
as much as I hate fillers, I still find myself watching Naruto's anime - just to see the difference from the manga.
I only read Naruto manga, but been trying to get into another anime - namely FMA: Brotherhood.

Other lengthy-but-fantastic series:
'Twelve Kingdoms' at 45 episodes.
'Monster' at 74 episodes.
'Legend of Galactic Heroes' (main series) at 110 episodes (or so I've heard; still haven't seen this one myself, length is daunting.)

Eureka 7 was about 50-60 episodes and it was fantastic.God I hated that series.Just read the manga. Its much more epic.I just watch the anime for the opening songs.conistantlol, I used to come in at the beginning to hear that terrible japanese rap segment in the original theme song and then at the end for that "You don't know who I really am" song.
