We've been in Iraq for over four years now. Quite a long time, indeed. We all agree with that. However, I do believe Bush when he says if we leave Iraq, the terrorists would follow us home. Bush understands that the American people are getting impatient. Bush wishes the war was over too. But, it's never good to leave a job before it's finished I guess.

[QUOTE="bt_the_great_78"][QUOTE="xXBuffJeffXx"] it doesn't matter because we are there and the reasons for being there are no longer relevant. MarkSmith

Exactly.

So if there is a problem in your life, you just leave and walk out of it? How about you deal with the problem that's at hand, especially if you had a hand in creating it......I don't know about you, but I don't run away from my problems.

We solved our problem. Crazy Saddam is in hell next to Hitler now.

What we're doing now is trying to make Iraq a democracy, a politically correct goal that doesn't really benefit us at all.

A militant-infested, failed state with strong Islamic ties in the heart of the Middle East is the worst thing that could possibly happen. If the Iraqi government fails there will be far-reaching consequences and implications for the entire world.

But its going to fail no matter what; we may as well save billions by watching it fail from the sidelines.

I agree that the Iraq situation hasn't been a particularly gratifying enterprise, but I don't think anything is inevitable. True, it might be too little, too late, but the new general in charge of of U.S. forces in Iraq, General David Petraeus, knows counter-insurgent warfare unlike his predecessors. My personal opinion is that we should give it 6 months to a year, and then begin a phased withdrawal. I'm advocating staying there because I feel we owe it to the Iraqi people. I'm not so naive as to believe the Bush Administration's line that "if we don't fight them there, we'll be fighting them on our own streets." That's absurd.

Since when do Liberals change their minds for public favor and deny ever thinking the other way?

Wait. . .

GameBoy966

To be fair, you could replace "Liberals" with "politicians" and the statement would still hold true :D

Yea, damn those crazy America hating, homo loving, tree huggin' liberals!

What's your point? That Bush lied about Iraq, or that mostly everyone believed him and endorsed it?

Rekunta

No, his point is that Democrats have held that Saddam was a danger to the US and the world for a long time. Most of the quotes are from the Clinton Administration

Well I dont think this entire thing or ANYTHING concerning bush's presidency to be right, America is the country that screwed up Iraq so bad in the first place! I think it's time the international community realizes the threat america poses to the world, America is already trying to blame Iran for Iraqs possesion of weapons and such, when obviously we are the ones who gave Iraq weapons (Bush senior....grrrrr) Its like covering someone in sewage and them blaming them later that they smell bad. And yes I do know these kind of threads exist even In game forums, But I think its about time we stop talking, and take our complaints to the goverment

I dont think we owe anything to the Iraqis, but I agree with Obama that since we know Bush is going to veto the withdrawal, Congrees needs to suck it up and support our troops while they're out risking their lives.

We gave Iraq weapons for the purpose of self defense, not for foreign policy coercion.

And btw, your sig represents a fundamental misunderstanding of the space-time continuum.

We have better reasons for being there now than we did 2 years ago, and ten times as many reasons as we did back in 2003. If we pull out, it's not because we're not making progress, it's not because our troops are suffering too many losses or stretched too thin, it's not because we've lost the support of newly installed political infrastructure, or because the insurgency has beat us. It would be because the American people became bored with the war and tired of seeing their money fund something they couldn't care less about.

In other news, the majority of politicians got where they are today by being good liars & Washington is a two-party town and both the Democrats and Republicans do everything they can to keep it that way.

Every time I try to entertain the idea that Bush is reasonable person, I remind myself that he wanted to change the Constitution to ban gay marriage.

Anyway, funny video. I like this one too.
