Isn't there a chin guard or something you can wear?brandontwb
At best, it would only blunt the damage slightly in this case. He hit the ground hard, and I can't believe he wasn't cut in the process. Weird how things happen. I took a spill on my bike when I was in grade 7 and landed on my hip (which was fortunately protected by a bag I was carrying), then had MY chin bounce off the pavement. No broken bones, but I needed stitches for that.
Normally I've would've cringed after seeing that but I think I've been desensitized thanks to some pretty graphic (and I mean grapic) vids I've seen lately. Just recently I saw one where this kid tried to dive off a pier or some thing, misjudged the distance needed to clear some concrete below and just faceplanted right onto it. Dude's face was split in half. Literally. And while I don't mean to sound cold-hearted, these things are guaranteed to happen due to the risks they take doing what they do.

Yeah, it wasn't really that disturbing. But you really feel for the guy. I've heard that breaking the jawbone is extremely painful.

Yeah, I do. I've taken a few hard spills in my life, so I can sorta relate. I'm thinking, though, he might've been a little too....concussed to really feel anything judging from him wanting to keep on skating. Landing on your chin like has got to really rattle the brain. I don't think he really knew what was going on at the moment.Yeah, I do. I've taken a few hard spills in my life, so I can sorta relate. Did he really say that? I couldn't make out any real words; I thought the translation was just 'internet humor.' But if he DID say he wanted to keep skating, that's a product of shock. Like those people who have potentially fatal injuries at car accident scenes who are walking around asking if they can help.

Oh, see, I was just going by what was "translated" but I wouldn't be suprised if he did. Like the example you gave, people do some strange things when in shock, are concussed, or have adrenaline pumping like mad. I had a health professor a few years back tell us a story about this guy he knew who was on the roof of his building (this was in Brooklyn) during the evening lighting up some "herbal cigarettes" when he though he heard a gunshot (it was really just a steel door slamming shut) and he bolted thinking someone was after him. He tried to jump across the rooftop to an adjacent building, missed and fell 3 stories. He got up and continued sprinting down the street for two more blocks before collapsing. When paramedics came, they saw he had broken both of his legs from the fall. Crazy. Please Log In to post.
