I completely understand that the reason why you do not believe in a God is because there is a lack of empirical evidence.

What kind of evidence, however, do you want? What are you looking for? What kind of proof do you need? What kind of evidence would be required for you to turn and believe in a God?

I have been trying to come up with something that, if existed, would prove the existence of God. No matter what I come up with, it seems to me that it could just be whisked away and labeled as something else anyway. Perhaps there could be an enormous guiding hand in the sky that could shape the world and constantly echo, "I am God and I am real. Believe in me for I can lift this dog and turn it into a cat."

I don't think god could ever be proven even if he existed. I just don't agree with religion.

Then perhaps you can post your evidneces for God here regardless if you think they will be whisked away. However hopefully it's not of the type "Well look at the universe. Someone MUST HAVE created it."

its more like...why believe in a imaginary being to explain mysteries?...400 years ago the earth was the center of the universe. and to disagree was punished by jail or death. just because we cant explain origins or beginnings doesnt mean that a spirit being created things for no good reason...to me god doesnt make rational sense and seems to me to be human fantasy...i dont need or look for proof

I dunno. God's certainly a lot more creative than I am. God would just have to do something to assert himself.

I can't think of a miracle, either.

If everyone on the planet was suddenly cured of cancer, people would just say they developed a natural immunity.

Perhaps if every dead person on the planet suddenly resurrected - oh - those would be zombies.

I believe that, according to Christianity anyway, the idea of time is a human feature and does not exist in the spiritual world, meaning that God was never created because he simply always was.

Religion might be a 'stench' for you. And mabey even a little for me, but some people's lives are genuinely enriched by religion. It also serves as a great comfort for social outcasts / the unfortunate, makes the world seem less cold and harsh, gives them something to hope for. So *perhaps* it's not needed - it's certainly not for everyone - but I would say that overall it's benificiary for society. And religion isn't necessarily a primitive way of thinking - some people use it as a way to answer life's 'biggest' questions. Religion *can* be discussed intelligently, and even with advanced critical thought. That's not to say that there isn't some truth to your original statement though.

God him/or herself to speak to me (I don't truly have to see God, but it would help). When I was lucid (not asleep), and give some account of my life (proving he's/she's been watching). Then, and only then will I believe in God.

That is interesting.

Assuming God did speak to you, your primary issue would be determining whether it was actually God or just you being insane. Another issue would be attempting to convince other people that God spoke to you, because their first inclination would be that you have mental issues instead.

iginlawasup

Who created Space then? He forgave our sins, and gave us eternal life. He tells you to do good things to others. I think atheist's are just people who have been damaged and blame God for it.

You know this "Who created what?" question could go on for eternity. God lives outside of space/time supposedly. when asked who created God most theists state that he didn't need to be created because creation is a product of time. I'm not even going to ask you how, if creation is a prduct of time and time is a prduct of the universe how the universe could have been created without time, instead I'm going to say that if God is real then he exists within reality. If, as many creationists believe, everythign must have a beginning then who created reality?

There needs to be a way that his existence can be observed in some fashion. It needs to be testable, and the existence should be either 100% or very close.

No, I wouldn't have the need to tell anyone, perhaps my wife. Many say that God speaks directly to them, if I had the same conviction in my conversation as they did that would suffice.

Because most people only read the topic title, and blindly assume the rest. Its like... why post here if you dont have the time to read the content? Seriously someone should post a topic that says "Palin is smart" while actually talking about string theory. Just to see how many people actually read...

We are looking for any type of evidence at all.

Evidence that would get me to believe in a god would proof he actually exists or evidence/reasoning that is better than current scientific theories.
