[QUOTE="masters89"]Vegetarians are low-minded people ... cuz meat helps the mind to grow up and develop and they dont eat it ,so ... Screw those people ! Respectly.heartcork

"Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." Albert Einstien. ;)

I always love it when people misspell Einstein's name.

Yeah, I realized it as I submitted. Too lazy to edit considering Im in the middle of making lunch.

Posting that took longer than editing it would have. ;)

Its not my fault people find it necessary to point out typos.

Well sorry >.>

Each vegetarian has their own reason. Some do it for religious purposes, others simply as a diet. Although many do it because of animal cruelty, there are other reasons.

We are biologically designed to eat meat and veggies our teeth are the proof. The cusp (canine) teeth are meant for tearing of meat.  There is nothing wrong with eating meat some people just choose not to do so.  Either because they don't want to kill an animal for food or maybe they don't like the way animals are treated or maybe they just don't like the taste.

It all comes down to this: If cows/pigs/chickens ect ect weren't meant to be eaten, why do they taste so damn good?SuperBeast

True. And if we aren't supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?

I have been a vergetarian my whole life, I've never eaten meat. I will not eat meat mainly because of the way it is obtained. Animals like chickens are treated as though they were mere crops, to be "grown" in huge numbers, on conveyer belt (this is how they process them, thousands of chicks on a converyer belt, put into boxes, alive, and shipped off to the factories) and to produce eggs for us in cages until they can no longer, then all thrown into a grinder, packaged and served to fat children. I'm not interested in "converting" people, I'm just explaining my own reasoning. Animals in the wild kill other animals becusae they would die otherwise, they can't grow crops or obtain food from other sources, like we can, and they only ever eat when they need to.

Settle down - no reason to be upset. I think topic creator was asking legit (reasonable) question, while, at the same time, remaining at respectful/understanding matter. Now, honestly - what is wrong with that?

Vegeterians are one thing, but have you heard of what some of the more extreme vegans don't eat? HONEY! YES! Honey! Could you believe it? They won't eat honey because apparently we are using the bees. We're evil bee-slavers of doom.

My brother is one of those super-extreme vegans. I don't get that guy sometimes. Just a few years ago he couldn't eat a hamburger if it didn't have cheese in it as well. :/

I don't like honey. or chocolate. or coffee. or most sweets, actually. but I'm not a vegan, since I don't like Peanuts (which contain lots of protein).

I don't eat farm animals that much, only on occasions like when out with friends or family or something (hamburgers, pasta with meat sauce)... I eat pretty much alot of fish though. Salmon...alot of it. I know that Humans aren't physiologically designed to eat meat, but we can anyways. But we can also eat paper. You can eat meat if you want, I don't really care. Just don't say humans are designed to eat meat.

Not all animals eat meat, only carnivores and omnivores do.

Unlike carnivores, Humans (without use of tools) are not suited to capture, kill and eat other animals (we are too slow, we don't have claws and our teeth are not suited to ripping open carcasses).  We are much better suited to eat plants (we have long arms, flat teeth and they cannot run away from us).  That is to say, we are more like chimps than say, tigers.

aspro73
Yeah but we don't need claws or speed to catch meat we have our brains. Also chimps eat insects which is another animal and they use "tools" to get them ( a stick).

I think a lot of vegetarians don't protest the notion of eating meat, just the way we kill animals to do it (we don't hunt them or give them a 'fair chance'. We stuff them into cramped cages, prevent any movement or breathing space, cut off their limbs and inject them full of chemicals.) I love meat, but I'd love it more if I knew that every hamburger I eat didn't come from such places.

You see, in herd species there is usually an alpha male who fertilizes all women. If there is less conflict there is less chance that strong males or females will be killed who would provide strong offspring. Of course without conflict there is no survival of the fittest, therefore the effect is only positive with a small amount of homosexuals within the tribe or herd. Evolution dictates that the most potent percentage of homosexual animals has the strongest chance to survive, which seems to be about 5%. You will find homosexual cheetas as they have been known to live in small packs but not pumas as they are always lone hunters. At least, that's my theory.

Makes sense. I was just saying to my wife that I'm glad we live next to a homosexual. Otherwise I'd be afraid of him coming over here and killing me to have sex with my wife and produce weak offspring.

I have no problem with vegetarians, but since the animal is going to be killed anyway, I believe you should not let it go to waste. It is kind of respectful to eat the animal so they didn't die for nothing.

Humans are omnivores. That means a well balance diet of meat and veggies.

My sister-in-law is a vegetarian. She broke her wrist a year and a half ago. It has not healed yet. She needs the right sort of protein - FACT!

heartcork

Wouldnt that mean she is calcium deficient, not protein deficient?

Actually, bone requires both calcium and protein. There's a lot of collagen in there.

A friend of mine is vegetarian and he is because his body can't stand meat, for some reason he is unable to properly digest meat; so for obvious reasons he sticks to vegetables, protein and vitamins suplements.

What does giving a damn about people have anything to do with this? So by your logic if an animal dies and it is used by any life form other then humans it is wasted. Your logic is flawed let me explain why. Let's say a mouse dies and mushroom decomposes it for energy. By your definition this is wasted, but wait, only a moment later a human walks by and eats the mushroom. The mouse that died fed the mushroom which fed the human and therefore isn't wasted by your definition.

You could exchange the mushroom (which isn't a mold it is a fungus) for any plant or animal.

everyone has a right to an opinion and everyone has the right to eat what they want unless its a protected species.
