After watching the SC GOP debate last night, I was wondering what OT's opinion on Newt Gingrich is?

From what I can see, there is nothing stunning about him. However, he obviously has supporters after listening to the audience last night. All of this talk on him on the offense to impeach Bill Clinton for having an affair while at the same time he himself was having an affair. No matter how good someone finds his ideas, I could never see myself willing to vote for someone who has these moral traits. He's been married 3 times and that seems to say something about how strongly he commits to his vows.

In all honesty, I am simply tripped up on how much I dislike him as a person.

Well back to the question, what are your thoughts on him and are there any supporters here?

There's a lesson to be learned from Newt. It's better to have no morals like Bill Clinton, than to have morals and then act hypocritcally.

I liked this part in the debate, could only find it in the form of an ad they made today.

I don't know if I really like any of them so much. The only one I supported was Herman Cain, and he's long gone.

I would rank Bill Clinton above Newt in terms of morals.

Newt's a smart guy, but he also has serious issues.

Lol, Ron Paul.

Anyways, I think Newt looked pretty good last night. Out of all the candidates right now, he's the only one I think who could out debate Obama. Whether he's electable or not though remains to be seen. Romney has a better outward appearance that's for sure. And he's done pretty well in all the debates so far. I don't think he can win against Obama though. He's too moderate. And moderates don't win elections.

Unlike the other GOP candidates, there's a sense of condescension that makes him more of an insufferable c*nt. At least the others have a feeling of parody to them.

American ones, yes. It's the 5th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gaines Mill in the American Civil War.

One would assume that a man with a name like that would be an unpleasant individual from some sort of children's book. Even then his name manages to belittle how truly corrupt and awful he is. I really can't understand how he rebounded from being one of the most hated men in American politics to being a presidential hopeful who has any amount of credence.

Aside from his personal turmoil, he's a decent candidate. He's a very good debater and could school liberals in a debate. He's very clear in what he says and seems to really believe in what he says, although he does his off moments. I think he has the qualities of a leader but he can a bit too rough for a lot people, even for independents.

He is a reprehensible human being, and I don't even care that he had an affair. To be forced out by your own party due to ethics charges (84 of them!), really says a lot about what a terribly corrupt person he is. And this is coming from one of the most corrupt legislative branches in the 1st world. He was too corrupt for them.

Meh Romney is nearly as bad, at least compared to Newts. Born rich, protested the protesters of the war while not even going himself, all while kids his age were dying and he was bathing in money. Bought companies and fired the employees hundreds of times just to make a quick buck, Not only that but his tax rate is only 15%, much lower than the average Americans, and it's not even the fact that it's lower it's the fact that it took so much just to get that information out of him.

and even if you want to ignore all this and make up excuses for it or defend it, it still doesn't explain his flip-flopping. Americans can vote for Romney all the want, even if he does win it's not going to make anything better. The fact is Obama is pretty much guaranteed a win if Romney gets the nomination.

Don't get me wrong, I detest Gingrich, but his debate performances floor the other candidate's, including Paul's. Paul is not a gifted orator and frequently stumbles over his words, even though he gives substantive answers.

I loose a little bit of faith in humanity every time I hear someone say they support Ron Paul. The dude is an extreme isolationist. His foreign policy alone would wreak havoc on this country. Just because he has a few good ideas, doesn't mean you should overlook the rest of his crap.

Also he would get railroaded in a debate with Obama. I never thought Obama was that good of a debater, but his speaking skills and outward swagger are second to none.

He also believes in letting states decide whether abortion should be allowed or not. But wait there's more... he would also would pass this other thing that would define sperm hitting the egg as a human being, effectively making the practice of abortion illegal. Oh, and he's about as pro corporatist as it gets.

Oh, and he's about as pro corporatist as it gets.

ColdExistence

I don't agree with everything Ron Paul stands for either, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. It certainly beats the indirect form of corporatism that Obama and morons like Romney are in favor of. Both of them are for several acts which offer huge illicit funding for military and security industries, as well as funding the illegal drug trade for the benefit of pharmaceutical corporations. Paul's statements on the illegality of these acts (and how he'd repeal them) reaffirms that, and if you do any of your own research you'll realize that most of them are what is bankrupting the (already bankrupt) US. Paul's version of corporatism (economics) is visible in several rising countries like Brazil and Southeast Asian nations.

There's definitely a reason the guy has tons of international support compared with other candidates. Plus his views on civil liberties are something a lot of candidates don't share and I think that's his primary appeal.

If everyone was honest and fair, it would be a good thing. But in this world, no. Corporations need to be regulated.
