OT Do you consider calling someone of German descent a Nazi to be a racial slur?

When I was a Junior in high school there was a German exchange student. And she was really, realy nice, andcute. Heres a pic from her public myspace.

Anyway, one of my best friends who could b described as alittle, funny, horny, slightly nerdy black guy started dating her. And people would poke fun at them telling him that he was dating a dating, and a Jew killer. They were just joking, but still. I started thnking to myself would that be considered a racial slur if someone meant it in that way.

I'm the kind of black guy who doesn't really care when people call me the N word. It's just a word to me. Although I don't know how I would take it if someone meant it in a racist, and hateful fashion. Because that has ever happened to me. Sooo...... I guess I'll just have to wait, and see.

Your thoughts?

Saying it to someone who either lives in or has lived in Germany for some time, I'd say yes. But to me (mostly German background) who has lived in the US my whole life, no.

You are implying you are better than a nazi (someone of the ayrian race or whatever). Which is the definition of racism, thinking your race or a group of races is better than another.

Nazi is a political term, so I wouldn't consider it a racial slur. But you shouldn't call someone a Nazi unless you mean to offend them.

I do not call Africans the N word so I don't call Germans the N word either.

As nationality is not race, it would be literally impossible for an insult towards one's nationality to be a racial slur.

Well to be fair if she has her pictures up on facebook... Then its fair game.

Calling someone a Nazi could possibly be offensive to some people. I wouldn't consider it a racial slur though.

Nazi is a political term, so I wouldn't consider it a racial slur. But you shouldn't call someone a Nazi unless you mean to offend them.

No, not racial slur if I give it a minute to think about it but certainly offensive. If I were a German, I would be offended and most likely too busy suppressing or expressing my anger than spare a minute to think if Nazi is racial slur or not.

hey you murdered a bunch of people... take that! usually a slur is something bad (race- black ppl, stereotype- mexican, short-commings- asians) about someone, but killing a bunch of people isnt really in that catagory (although not good.. its not something that a german would take offense to). im german and if someone called me a nazi id laugh.. not be offended.

It sure is a racial slur, joking or not.

I've been to Germany. I've been friends with Germans. They're definitely not Nazis. It sucks that it's part of their history. But, I don't hold Germans accountable for the past. It's the same thing with the Japanese*. If they're friendly (which most people are) to me then I return the favor.
