Title says it all. What kind of guns do you have? What do you like about the particular model(s) that you have? What do you use them for?

I only have 2 guns. I use them exclusively for target shooting and home defense (hopefully won't have to). I'm not a "gun enthusiast" per se, but I believe in exercising my 2nd Amendment rights. Plus shooting is fun.

-Mosin-Nagant 91/30- Hard to beat this old bolt-action rifle for the price. This was the main rifle used by the Russian military for many years, including WW2. 5 shot built-in magazine, 7.62x54R ammo. Loud and crude, but fairly accurate and very reliable.

-Smith and Wesson SD40 VE- .40 caliber, semi-auto pistol. 14+1 round magazine. More or less a Glock knock-off, but from a good brand. A big upgrade from S&W's prior generation of budget pistols. This is my home and personal defense firearm. I like it because it's cheap, fairly simple, shoots a respectable round, and holds a lot of bullets in the standard magazine.

I have a custom AR-15 rifle, a Glock 21 Gen4 .45 ACP, a .38 Colt Detective Special with custom grips, and my duty weapon is a Glock 17 Gen4 in 9mm.

My AR-15 is my target rifle and zombie apocalypse weapon. I've got a custom 16 inch barrel with a foregrip and picatinny rail system, an ACOG reflex sight, pistol grip, and an A2 stock with extender.

My Glock 21 is my target shooting pistol/home defense weapon.

My .38 is my back-up and what I carry when I go running or out somewhere.

And my Glock 17 is self-explanatory.

Of your handguns, do you have a favorite? I was thinking about you when I went to the gun show this weekend. I know you're a police officer in NY, but it seems that you'd have a lot more fun down here in TX. :P

I thought you might say that. Will have to see if they have one at my local range that I can try out.

.44 magnum that I can't identify. Found it, has no serial information on it. I also have some random Remington 870 with mods, along side a few other guns I'm holding for a friend.

None at the moment. In the next few years (cash allowing) I'm hoping to pick up a bolt action rifle (maybe a.30-06), a pump action shotgun, and a revolver of some sorts. Maybe a .22 rifle or 9mm handgun for cheap shooting, too.

I have a Savage mark 2 bolt action. I picked it because it is one of the best bang for the buck .22 rifles you can get. I was planning on getting my pistol licence but NY ended up banning most of the pistols I wanted to get, so f*ck it.

I ordered a Savage Mark II F .22lr on Tuesday. I'm waiting on Budsgunshop to mail it to my FFL. It sounds like an awesome little rifle.

As of now, in the order I bought them. I have a Ruger SR40c, Taurus 738 TCP, DPMS AR15, CZ-75 in 9mm, HK USP in .45, 91/30 Mosin Nagant, Norinco SKS, Enfield 1917, Makarov IJ70, & a Smith & Wesson 686. The Savage Mark II should be here within the next couple weeks. I waited far too long to get a .22, a .22 should be the first thing a new gun owner buys.

They are nice little rifles. The synthetic stock on them sucks balls though, I plan on replacing mine with a boyd's pepper laminate stock in the near future.

I have 3 handguns and two long guns. I used to conceal carry with my snub nose 38 special, it's a smith and wesson very good gun to learn how to shoot with and I have got it upgraded a bit where it releases heat/pressure from the top of the barrel that causes it the gun to go back down upon firing.

My favorite though is the PZ Compact, it's a very reliable handgun that can fire virtually all types of pistol ammo. I also own a Glock but I hate using it, the handle is just a giant rectangle and I don't see how anyone can feel comfortable carrying concealed with it.

For home defense I keep my Mossberg Shotgun locked and loaded. Anyone that breaks into my house there is going to be nothing left of them but their shoes.

don't have a gun but plan on getting a couple in the future thinking of getting one strictly for home protection, like a 12 gauge pump action shotgun (as I hear the sound of pumping a round into the chamber is enough to scare off intruders), and for considerations of any neighbors as I don't want bullet penetration to injure someone by accident, one of my best friends has one and he can show which ones might be the best to get, and show me how to use it and clean it and whatnot, he is ex-military and I lived with him for a few years and I always felt safe with him in the house and he was always pretty responsible with how he handled weapons and if I wanted to learn anything about firearms I'd want him to show me and one gun for sport, I'm thinking of a lever action rifle for my inner cowboy, the one I would want but couldn't afford anytime soon would be a Big Horn Model 89 Rifle or Carbine, fires a 500 SW Magnum, but that gun is like $2000 and I couldn't afford that for the time being, Henry makes a lot of lever action rifle varieties but every single on of those is a top loading tube and I'd prefer something with a loading gate on the side to feed the magazine tube, I was actually really eyeing the Marlin lever action rifles and they seemed really appealing until I started running into stories that there were these horrible manufacturing issues since Marlin was bought by Remington, rumor I heard was that when Remington bought Marlin it fired all the staff and when they were sending off the equipment there was a possibility that the bitter Marlin staff getting fired sabotaged or damaged the equipment for production and Remington for years has yet to fix their defective manufacturing of the Marlin models, guess I could wait until I hear they fix these issues (that they still claim are non-existent) or get an older model produced before the Remington buyout, here's a video explaining about it, and I've found many forums of complaints and it seems too common for me to consider a Remington manufactured Marlin levergun... meh, don't have the money for these yet so no rush, can keep looking to see what's out there until I can afford it

I may have to pick up a Judge. Those are just too cool.

I got one. It's awesome. I used to carry it on me, back home in Alaska. It'd be loaded with these special 410 gauge shot shells, made for personal defence, that fire 3 little cylindrical plates, which spin around like tiny sawblades, tearing open a wound, which is then peppered with a half size load of standard buckshot. And in my pocket, two speedloaders with .45 colt hollowpoints.

Also have a romanian made AK-47. Used to shoot skeet with it, back home. Like a boss.

Since I live in NYC, I don't own a firearm. But when I viisit my folks in AZ at least once a year, we go to the range and I always get at least a Walther PPQ chambered in 9mm and a SOCOM 16, which is pretty fun to shoot.

EDIT: Sorry, you also asked why:

The PPQ's trigger is great and in my hands, it's a naturally pointing gun. At this point, I can make a nice, ragged hole with on mag at 25 yds.

The SOCOM 16 is the only 762x51 I've ever handled so it's nice little thumper compared to a typical AR. And there's something nostalgic about firing a descendent of the M1 Garand.

I don't have any.

My legs, fists, muscles, knives, security systems and location make guns useless for home defense. In addition, I am not a fan of hunting or guns in general (though I do have a thing for WWI/WWII era LMGs, such as the Bren, and GPMGs from the same era, such as the MG 42). I myself would prefer a crossbow, a bow (such as a recurve) for recreational purposes, as there is less hassle involved.

I don't actually own any, but at some point my dad said he'd pass down one of the rifles to me. We have an AR-15 chambered in .300 blackout, a .270 and a .30-06 rifle (don't know what model either of them are), a .357 revolver, and I remember seeing a handgun at some point that looked like an FN five-seven.
