honda civic(sedan or coupe) or kia forte koup would be my choices for a first car now.MFDOOM1983
yeah I have a honda civic and and it gets great gas mileage. It's not so great for hauling things, but it wasn't designed for that.

ford f150 with 6 inch lift and dual exhaust who cars about gas, its all about horsepower.

I am a fan of Nissan Altimas for "trooper" cars. Then again, I am sort of a Nissan fan boy these days. So I may be biased.

5gs for your first car you lucky son of a **** i wish i got 5grand back on my first car I'd say get something like a lancer if not and you wanna take the truck approach really there is nowhere you can go wrong just look into ford and dodge trucks you can get something spiffy for that money

something along these lines

1. Safe

2. Inexpensive

3. Good mileage

I recommend a used Honda Accord or something...you can get one in decent shape for around 5k. It will last you many years, and is safe.
