I want to bring this back up. Might be out-dated because I posted this last year.
So a mysterious stranger dressed in the Organization 13's costume starts walking your way. Not wanting to be anywhere near "it", you turn around, and there he is right in front of you.
He puts his hands in his pockets, and since you've been playing too much Assassin's Creed, you think he is going to take out stilettos and murder you here and then. But what is that? In his right hand is a DSi, in his left hand is a PSP 3000.
"Choose wisely, young gamer", he says.
Now that we've gotten through that fantasy, which console do you think is better overall?
I myself like the PSP a whole lot better than the DSi, and I will write the reasons why I think that in my point of view below.
The PSP, or as I nicknamed mine, the "Substitute", because in reality, my PSP could basically substitute for having a computer. A PSP, as we all know, can save and view pictures, listen to music, watch movies, play games, and all of these it can download from the PlayStation Network, or the internet.
The DSi on the other hand, can do those, but limitedly. Yes, it can play music, and play games, and even take pictures with its camera, but only the games are what you can get from the DSi Shop, and not to mention, you can't save any of these from its browser like the PSP can.
The PSP is not all for the money, as it lets you download as many demos as you want from the PlayStation Network as you want. Oh, and did I mention that the PSP can read comics now?
For the DSi, you need DSi Points, which you can only buy from a store, or you have to have a Visa credit card. What if you don't have any access to the two? Then you are screwed from the shop. With the DSi Shop, there is only one free application, and that is the animation program called Flipnote. Oh, and the DSi can't read comics.
The PSP has a better internet system, and can also hold three tabs for it's messaging needs. That means you could be using eBuddy for IM'ing, Google for researching, and N-Forums for great posting all at the same time.
The DSi? You can only view one page. Not to mention that the browsing also sucks, as the bottom screen is a magnified version of the top screen, which shows you a thumbnail of the page that you are on. This makes it very annoying, as you have to scroll through the page as you read. Or you could have it where both screens are just used for the page, which makes it better, but not really.
Wallpapers, the PSP has them. Themes can be customized to whatever your heart's desire.
DSi can only feature a picture that you have starred on the top screen during the menu. Buttons nor theme can be changed, except for the color.
PSP can be used as a phone with Skype, or can be a Blu-Ray remote.
Neither of those the DSi can do, and not even close.
Now lets talk about the parts that are not about how they are used.
The PSP is pretty nice, easy to put the disks in, nicely placed Power Button, and a USB port for plugging it into the computer. The PSP also feature one screen, 6 buttons, a D-Pad, and 1 C-Stick. Uses memory stick duo, but instead of needing to put in the MSD into the computer, you can just plug the PSP into the computer. Drop the PSP, and you can scratch it, or break the screen.
The DSi looks very appealing at first, with it's minimalistic look. It has 11 buttons A, B, X, Y, Start, Select, Power, +, -, L, R, and a D-Pad. Uses SD card, and requires you to stick it into the computer in order to put things onto it. From my experience, my computer freaks out when I put a 4 GB SDHC into it, and this is very annoying. If they made it so that you could plug the DSi into the computer like the PSP, it would be fine. Also, the weakest spot on the DSi is it's hinge in between the screens. Drop the DSi on it's hinge and it will explode. Not to mention it still has the same problems as the PSP, you drop it, and you can crack the screen, or scratch the shell.
