I was reading this the other day and I'm intertested to hear where the people of OT stand on the issue.

So, do you download music illegally? Do you believe music is a commodity to be bought and sold? Do you think the repercussions for downloading music are far too excessive for the nature of the crime?

Or do you side with the RIAA? Do you think people who download music, without paying for it, are essentially stealing from the artist - making it much more difficult for them to create future music for the perpetrator's enjoyment?

post away.

So, do you download music illegally?

Considering anyone that said yes to that would be modded, we won't go down that road. Re-think your topic and try it again. There is nothing wrong with discussion on how illegal downloading can hurt musicians and whatnot, but we do not talk about the actual activity of downloading things we don't own. Thanks.

If I want some songs, I purchase a CD. It is illegal to distribute music that you don't own the rights to.

Although I personally do not download music illegally (I've been slowly building up my CD collection, up to over 70 CDs that I want to keep plus maybe 15-20 more than I'm trying to trade for CDs I do want; also got a good deal of music from parents' CDs), I think the sums being sought by the RIAA in these lawsuits are absurd.
