I haven't heard of any on that list except for Black Gives Way to Blue. But my favorite recent album is Shadows Fall: Retribution.

[QUOTE="mexicangordo"]You are quickly rising to the top of of my "cool" people list, that was just awesome. minus the lead singer. Sounds so much like the lead singer of Muse, it annoys me. :P But the "opera" like vocals are very nice indeed.

Thank you kind sir:D I found about about them recently. If you like them check this out:D

Hardcore cello music:D

Ive heard of them before, never seen the music video, that was pretty cool. However, thats not my taste. When it comes to composition and orchrestrated music in the rock formate, i really wan't it to sound different from rock, not trying to imitate it. Quick example would be Pink Floyd, they did that a lot.

Try Delain. If you like Nightwish you may like this band.

I really dislike Nightwish and Ive heard of Delain before, plenty of times, and its most definetly not my taste. Here let me give you a closer look of what i mean. I really like well composed songs that show that they took time to have composition (not to minimize Delain or the videos you showed)

A more mainstream and obvious example would be (just pay attention to the orchestra)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqVs-qlWHR8

or something like

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qT4p7fStpfs

Both are in a rock formate, but distinguish themselves as orchestrated pieces. It shows the composition, and distinguish themselves from their rock counter part, thats what I love to here and feel. :P

Ah ok, I like that smashing pumpkins song a lot. Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness is actually my favorite album of theirs. Do you like tool or a perfect circle? If you do check out Indukti.

Love tool have all their albums, I think A perfect Circle is stella but I still have all their records.r. And im glad you enjoyed the song, it was obvious that It was coming :P Indukti sounded so much like Tool, it was weird to hear it.

For a quick comment, I worked at a album store for a long time and now I am a music journalist for my local Radiostation (I do the cooking as part time) I think you would be a fantastic journalist or something in the music field. Its nice talking to someone that has a lot of music knowledge, we find less and less of that now a days. :P

I would love to be a music journalist. Heck any kind of job would be something, I cant get one where I am. Not being able to drive yet sure doesn't help though. i am finishing writing a short story and i will be filming a short film soon. Might put it on youtube. Its a shame there are not more music stores around, near me there are only 2 good ones. I miss Tower Records:(

I didnt "bash" thats way over exaggerated. I said no way,l was trying to get an answer but all i got were those vague bursts. How can New wave help create grunge but not be a part of it. Just as a quick note, New wave IS alternative, its the first known alternative music ever. Grunge started in the early/mid 80's not 90's...

And there's the opinion thing again.. :P You are a stubborn one :P

You know, i was wrong about you. Your not as musically open minded as I first intially thought.

Vitology is an amazing record btw. Tremor Christ, Nothing Man, Cordouroy, Bugs, The Whipping....good times indeed. :P

mexicangordo

Your intial wording implied that new wave was an off shoot of grunge. And I never said grunge started in the 90's. In fact, in a previous post, I said grunge came about in the 80's. And I'm open minded about my music. I've just heard enough grunge to know that I hate it and never want to see it revived.

Tower Records was the closest music store by you? O man do I feel sorry for you :P I have a car but don't drive as I live in San Fransisco, so I trolly everything around :P Theres hundreds of music stores over here, classic vintage ones, its a music lovers dream, but you should see to it and investigate the music industry. I know your the "film guy" but I honestly here you talk more about music than movies. Where do you live btw?

And I would really like to read your book, when its finished. Im writing some songs with some band mates. I would'nt mind you seeing what you think either. :P

Well then thats all their is to it. Sorry if my eariler post sounded a tad arrogant, i was just trying to get to the bottom of this but felt like I was getting no where. And to make it clear, I never said grunge was going to be revived. Theres still grunge bands but the genre is long dead.

Black Gives Way to Blue. Not only does it sound authentic it's a damn good record and makes me respect Jerry even more because he is clearly the mastermind I thought he was.

Not that into Sonic Youth or Dinosaur Jr. Pearl Jam's album I'll pick up but none of their stuff after Vitalogy has been thoroughly enjoyed by me. Well Yield came close but still.

Farm and The Eternal were decent, though nothing special. Backspacer was mediocre, and I didn't bother with Alice in Chains. As far as Interpol goes, Turn on the Bright Lights is fantastic, Antics is good but nowhere near TOTBL, and Our Love to Admire is pretty bad.
