Both classes of people don't struggle to meet the minimum financial requirements for living. Which class of people are just overall more happy? I think, at a certain point, rich people feel more lonely and have a harder time relating to people. Strength of Social Ties > Money; IMO.

People say money can't buy happiness, but dang, sometimes it sure looks like it.

The fact that a lot of suicides occur among the rich attests to the fact that they probably aren't. It doesn't surprise me either. Having a nice house, lots of money and plenty of food in the cupboards is only a shortcut to finding out that it's not enough.

In my experience, richer individuals are more successful at socializing than their middle class brethren.

I know I'd be happier. I think there's enough in this world to do and see to keep me occupied.

I wouldn't say they are any more or less happy overall. Regardless of whether someone is rich or middle class, each person has their own definition of happiness. There are rich people who say they'd rather have less money and more friends, just as there are rich people who enjoy basking in their wealth. To each their own.

They are definitely happier. There may be rare cases, but that is more along the line of psychological issues I'd guess more than anything.

While I don't necessarily believe that with money comes unlimited happiness, but happiness does none the less follow if you weren't already wealthy to begin with. Not having to worry about the financial burden that plagues most peoples lives in this world is a blessing. I find that a good majority of problems are caused by either a person's stupidity or lack of money. Alleviating one of the major problems in your life should bring about some sort of happiness, however large or small that may be.

Happiness is relative to each persons situation. It would be incorrect to say that any class of people is happier than another.

I think they'll manage... Besides, any personal issues could easily be remidied by psychiatry, religion, e.t.c; Those problems are a lot easier to fix than money problems.

Hmmm, not really. I would like to be somewhere in between the middle and rich class. Middle class is somehow...sheep and the rich class...can't stand them. I find it really tempting to be in the middle of these two for many reasons.

If people who are rich are those that won the lottery or who dose very little work of their wealth more then likely has more time to enjoy their fortunes, but i heard that people who are usually better off then middle class also work most of the time in long term jobs that requires their special talents or knowledge almost all the time, even if they are their own boss and hardely has free time at all.

sure they have money, but what the point if they don't get to enjoy it from working all the time.

happiness (barring extreme circumstances) is a state of mind -though having money certainly eases many burdens (though it creates some others), and this makes it easier to enjoy life...which is slightly different

As long as you don't have to worry about paying the bills, I'd say the middle class is probably happier because they tend to have lower stress jobs. But it really depends on the person - there are plenty of rich miserable people and plenty of happy poor people.

It depends how much finical wealth is considered rich. The social studies indicate happiness plateaus as wealth increases. I'm not sure on the specific point but A person with a billion dollars is not necessarily going to be more happy than a person with half a billion dollars because they have past the threshold of significance in wealth relating to happiness. Once a person reaches a certain point of finical stability they're going to be as happy as anyone can be with money alone. But if you're poor, having more money can make you happier because it will reduce stress and provide security for yourself and your family.

I think you'd also have to consider how difficult or hard it is for the person to acquire their wealth. Being wealthy, may not be worth the effort to many people.

They could just quit their job and live off that wealth. Do things they want to do for the rest of their life. If someone is truly rich and have like 50 billion in the bank, why couldnt they do that.

Depends on what you do to be rich. If you're working some high stress job and spend 100 plus hours working/week, then yes, I'd say someone who makes less is probably happier.

Pretty much. Money doesn't buy happiness, but it lessens monetary stress and eases access to entertainment and goods.

All things considered, slightly more likely to be happy due to a few concerns that can be caused by a need for money. But not that much happier. I'd wager that there is a much more substantial difference with respect to happiness in between the middle class and the poor.

Doesn't matter as long as I can take a nice solid dump with nice soft toilet paper that feels good when I wipe.

Money=my happiness

I don't believe that money doesn't buy happiness phrase. I'd get to buy whatever I wanted if I had it.

There has been research on this, and overall, richer people suffer from fewer mental issues, have fewer health concerns, and typically enjoy a higher standard of living. If you want to classify that as "happiness," (and personally, I do) then yes richer people are typically happier.

The key thing to remember is past a certain point, money doesn't give you as much happiness as it once did. In the article that I read (I believe it was in Time) around 70k a year was the typical cut-off for level of happiness versus people in a higher monetary level. If you're making 70k a year, with or without another person contributing to that bottom line, you typically experience a similar amount of satisfaction that a higher monetary bracket does.

The distinction the article made was the things that people buy or put money into. People who invested time into vacations or parties with social interaction with family and friends typically experience a higher QOL or quality of life margin versus people who invested more into commercial goods like expensive cars or a personal den of some type.
