Which are some of the comedies you think are overrated? ANY comedy, a show, a TV show, a comedian, a movie...

I think that some of the worst comedies are:

modern family

in the middle

almost anything on sony's channel.

50 first dates...sigh...adam sandler's movies usually cracks me up, its silly humor, but its very fun anyway, but this one...dammit...this one is an exception, imo the worst comedy film in sandler's list.

anything with rob schneider on it.

and finally, the most overrated comedy film imo

pineapple express

seriously, terrible movie, super boring, not funny at all, yet is hailed as one of the best comedies ever made, watching movies like this one makes me feel as if I should go and destroy every comedy film in the world

Rob Schneider movies are not overrated. Nobody agrees that they're good.

Most recently, The Hangover. I couldn't believe it got as much traction as it did when it's just not funny. As for TV shows, The Big Bang Theory mystifies me. It's full of the most rote cliches of socially awkward people repeated over and over. Yet people love it.

I had to force myself to laugh when I watched it.

I agree with modern family as well. It tries too hard to be funny but no, just no.

Anything with Seth Macfarlane's name on it... not including Robot Chicken of course. Im sick of the amount of time his crap gets on Adult Swim. They should show their own programming.

This. Pretty much all of the recent comedies I watch don't have laugh tracks. Also, Billy Madison.

I completely agree, it's not all that funny and probably the sequel will be equally overrated. And I hate those tagline-reviews:"Funniest film since The Hangover".

That film was pure trash. I almost felt like demanding my money back after seeing that.

I hope Edgar Wright can redeem himself with his next Simon Pegg/Nick Frost film.

Seinfeld and Family Guy, I can't figure out why these shows are meant be funny. When none of your jokes are tied to the plot, that's not very encouraging. I've watched many episodes of both shows just to be fair and I wound up glaring motionless with a blank stare with my only thought being, "How did this nonsense make it past the pilot?"

Also, Sacha Cohen's act is just plain terrible. Borat and Bruno? Are you kidding? How did this garbage get so much praise?

A quick summary of the "genius" comedy of Bruno:

HI EVERYONE IM BRUNO AND IM GAY DONT YOU KNOW

Oh, hey Bruno. You know, we're actually OK with it.

OH YEAH HOW ABOUT IF I ACT FLAMBOYNTLY GAY?

Sure, if that's your thing.

WHAT IF I ACT OBNOXIOUSLY, FLAMING, FLAMBOYANTLY GAY WHILE HITTING ON YOU AND MUGGING THE CAMERA FOR CONTRIVED COMEDIC EFFECT?

Sigh........please go away.

The End.

Love Pineapple Express, though I can understand why a lot of people don't. Its humor only suits a certain uhhh demographic.

The Hangover and Knocked Up were both praised far too much imo.

knocked up is terrible as well...its humor only last for like 30 minutes, after that, the whole film looks like a drama and not a comedy to me...I mean they dont tell lame jokes, its just taht they dont tell jokes at all, nothing funny happens again, the movie turns from "comedy" to "serious movie" not to mention the movie is soooo fricking long...I mean how long is it, like, 2 hours? 2 hours and a half? either way, its way too long for a comedy

I think you know ;). I'm not part of that demographic but I used to be and I'm still around it a lot. The film is hilarious for me and my friends because a lot of it is things we've done or can relate to. I can understand for someone not around the whole stoner sub-culture how the movie would be boring.

Hot Fuzz was way too slow in my opinion. The last 10 minutes or so was good, but it spent too much time getting there. I much preferred Shaun of the Dead.

It's a tough one, but I'd put Shaun of the Dead slightly ahead of Hot Fuzz just because it doesn't meander quite as much in the beginning (well, not the very beginning of Hot Fuzz, but once he's transferred). Hot Fuzz has some hilarious moments though.

"Friends" instantly come to mind.

I'm also not too fond of Family Guy or the Simpsons but I can at least see why people may enjoy them.

But the show "Friends"...I've tried watching it and every episode I watched, I had to force myself to laugh. Everybody in my family are huge fans of the show and I cannot for the life of me understand why.

American Pie is funny? What's funny? A d in the pie is not funny. No one in that movie is actually funny, not even sean william scott. Tosh.0 is by far the most overrated "comedy program" currently airing on cable or network television. i don't know about film, but pretty much every will ferrel, ben stiller, and seth rogan comedy was "funny..." and then I turned 13.

Superbad and The Hangover. I have to say though that Superbad has got to be the most overratted comedy of all time. (not including TV shows) I found all of the characters to be really annoying and I only said ha on ONE scene. This all my opinion but I stand by it.

Pineapple Express is my favorite comedy movie ever.FrostyPhantasm

That movie is hilarious, I don't understand all the hate it's getting in this thread.

Old School comes to mind as overrated, the American Pie movies were horibly unfunny, and I might get some flack for this but none of the Meet the Parents movies were funny to me, not even the first one, way overrated. As for TV, just about anything on network TV. Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half men stand out, Mike and Molly makes me cringe and I have no idea how that can become the number one rated comedy or whatever it is, and going back a while That 70s Show is horribly overrated.
