[QUOTE="FrostyPhantasm"]Pineapple Express is my favorite comedy movie ever.theone86
That movie is hilarious, I don't understand all the hate it's getting in this thread.
Old School comes to mind as overrated, the American Pie movies were horibly unfunny, and I might get some flack for this but none of the Meet the Parents movies were funny to me, not even the first one, way overrated. As for TV, just about anything on network TV. Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half men stand out, Mike and Molly makes me cringe and I have no idea how that can become the number one rated comedy or whatever it is, and going back a while That 70s Show is horribly overrated.
its a terrible movie dude, its completly overrated seriously I watched this on theaters and everyone was like "..." I really thought I was watching some drama film because no one ever laughed or made any comment[QUOTE="theone86"][QUOTE="FrostyPhantasm"]Pineapple Express is my favorite comedy movie ever.lightleggy

Thank you so much, you've completely clarified the objective complaints that people have about this movie:roll:

My thinking is that you had to be old enough to appreciate all the references.
That may be partially true, but I picked up on some of them, and still found it really bad, my dad also disliked it, and he certainly understood all the references.

How could you not like Forgetting Sarah Marshall? That movie was great.
Just not my thing. It dragged on way too long and I find Russell Brand insufferable. But, opinions are opinions. :) I know that most people liked it.[QUOTE="theone86"][QUOTE="socked_feet"]Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.socked_feet

Thank you! I don't get the ridiculous amount of love that all the Monty Python films get. Sure, those films have a few funny parts in em, but nowhere near the amount suggested by all the fans. Then again, I may just not be a fan of British tv...Anything Monty Python related.

Anything with Seth Macfarlane's name on it... not including Robot Chicken of course. Im sick of the amount of time his crap gets on Adult Swim. They should show their own programming.wolverine4262
What does Seth McFarlane have to do with Robot Chicken?

Absolutely nothing. I guess he was just thinking it felt like something the guy would do and just assumed he created it too.[QUOTE="DucksBrains"][QUOTE="wolverine4262"]Anything with Seth Macfarlane's name on it... not including Robot Chicken of course. Just about any sitcom with a laugh track, with exceptions to Seinfeld and very few othersJML897This. I find it insulting that they put that in some shows. There're pretty much saying "You're too stupid to know whats funny so we will tell you what parts are supposed to be funny"
This. I find it insulting that they put that in some shows. There're pretty much saying "You're too stupid to know whats funny so we will tell you what parts are supposed to be funny" I could not agree more. I despise laugh tracks, and like you said, they seem to give the implication that their audience is too ignorant to know when to laugh. ...or that the show's not actually that funny, and the writers feel the need to compensate by telling you an unfunny situation is hilarious through their inclusion of a laugh track.[QUOTE="JML897"]Just about any sitcom with a laugh track, with exceptions to Seinfeld and very few othersRougehunter
Hot Tub Time Machine,... so many of my friends said it was funny... after watching it I wanted to slap everyone of them
Modern Family, hate that show with a passion.
As for movies, The Hangover. For the amount of hype over it, I didn't think it was that good
Friends was awesome."Friends" instantly come to mind.
I'm also not too fond of Family Guy or the Simpsons but I can at least see why people may enjoy them.
But the show "Friends"...I've tried watching it and every episode I watched, I had to force myself to laugh. Everybody in my family are huge fans of the show and I cannot for the life of me understand why.

What's will the the hate for Modern Family =/, I can understand overrated (it's hard for anything to live up to that amount of praise), but really "hate with a passion" and "worst"? And the AD comparisions have never made that much sense to me, aside from the filiming style, and basic sense about them being about a family I don't see much similar at all. Modern Family is a mockumentary, AD is narrated (humorusly). AD gets much of its humor from being about a dysfunctional family, while Modern Famliy's derives alot of it's humor from more common family situtions (a father-in-law who sorta hates his son-in-law, father who tries way too hard be to hip, parents worrying about their children growing up, siblings who fight but do show moments where they care about each other, parents concerned about their daughter's boyfriend, etc). And most of all the fact that AD isn't exactly as family-friendly as Modern Family, AD jokes about everything from sex, to religion, to politics, even incest.
I'm not saying one show is better than the other, but I don't see how they're at all similar.
It's because the humour is so forced. A lot of the stuff that goes on in the show is funny in theory, but it's just executed really badly. What's will the the hate for Modern Family =/, I can understand overrated (it's hard for anything to live up to that amount of praise), but really "hate with a passion" and "worst"? Anything Judd Apatow and or seth rogen has done. They aren't funny.. Neither can't make a joke that doesn't involve pot, a penis or swearing. Seriously when Seth Rogen came into the movie Paul and did his stupid swearing bit I couldn't even take it he ruined the movie... SAYING F*** IN EVERY SENTENCE DOES NOT MAKE WHAT YOU JUST SAID FUNNY

Whats funny is there was one episode of Saved by the bell that didn't have a laugh track because there were in Hawaii for some reason... And holy god was it unwatchable.. I was always aware Saved By the Bell was just a dumb show and I watched it just beacuse of its sillyness but without the laugh track it just is really awkward and weird.
Wait, why are some people in this thread "forcing" themselves to laugh? Why laugh at something if you don't think it's funny?
TGM_basic
The only reason I can think of is if they're watching the movie with other people and they don't want to be known as the uptight guy who doesn't have a sense of humor.
