What sport do you think is the most overrated of all, and why?

Baseball. It's less team based and more individual, too many of the players over the last decade have been juiced and have cheated their way to success and money, and the lack of salary cap allows a handful of teams to buy up all the talent. What sport do you think is the most overrated of all, and why?

There are over a dozen other sports that provide more skill, better teamwork, better action, and better competition.
I don't like sport in general, I see no purpose in getting payed to kick a ball around/hit a puck/throw a ball/etc etc. Altho sometimes I can feel like watching a game of footie :oops:DeihjanThere really getting payed so people can gamble on them. And it provides an industry.

Televised poker. I want to hurl every time I see that crap on TV.fellybat
Yeah, why is poker on ESPN? Poker is not a sport...

Aye. There's no way I could consider poker a legitimate sport. Is it a sport by definition? Sure. I refuse to consider it any more legit than potato sack races.Hmph, I could never get into American football. Which is weird considering many other people in my family and many of my relatives love American football...
The only sport I really like to watch is baseball. *gets flame shield ready*
Football. The play stops every 30 seconds, easy to fall asleep before the games finished. But nascar, MY GOD!! Who invented nascar? And how can you possibly say turning left for several hours is a sport, or at the least bit, enjoyable to watch.I've never seen the appeal of American football at all. Or, if NASCAR counts as a sport (and it really shouldn't as far as I'm concerned), that's even worse.

I don't see auto racing(of ANY sort, aside from Rally) as a sport so much as a well-honed skill. I will say, however, due to my extensive exposure to NASCAR(parents) I've learned a lot of the intricacies of the sport, and I swear those pit-crews are amazing at what they do. The drivers, yeah they "go around in circles" but it takes just as much skill as weaving through chicanes(sp?) in F-1 and such. Still, in the end it comes down to the money put into the cars that wins races. Even with the engineers and whatnot on each team, it's still technology and funding that buy championships. Thus, not a real sport.I've never seen the appeal of American football at all. Or, if NASCAR counts as a sport (and it really shouldn't as far as I'm concerned), that's even worse.

Hmhmhmm;) Football is a joke compared to Rugby, and NASCAR is just a joke. I can relate to this.I've never seen the appeal of American football at all. Or, if NASCAR counts as a sport (and it really shouldn't as far as I'm concerned), that's even worse.

Baseball. strike, strike, pop fly out, strike, foul, foul, strike out, strike, single, foul ball, pop fly out, inning over. repeat with an occational run or home run.laughingman42You forgot the overweight American sitting next to you burping loudly then scratching himself.
[QUOTE="Forumposter"]baseball, players dont really need to be that good as you'd expect... plus 4 goddamn hours for a good game holy hell thats longGabuEx
You should check out cricket; in its original form a single game occured over the span of five days.
Holy hell that is a long time.
Baseball. It's just too boring, I tried watching it once.I_pWnzz_YoU
The only time I ever watch a baseball game are highlights of the World Series on ESPN. I went to a Major League game one time and ended up walking around the Stadium cause the game was so boring.
Curling... everyone knows about it... and everyone... talk about it... in bad of course but still more popular than many other sports :PRedgarl
I actually enjoy watching curling:oops: and I liked it before everyone starting watching it last olympics. I honestly have no idea why I enjoy watching it, but I do.

Almost every foreigner I've met dislikes American Football and almost always compares it to Rugby. I never knew that there was that big of a fan pool for Rugby.

I completely disagree. You try hitting a 98 mph fast ball. After you missed that fast ball try hitting his next pitch, which can be a change up at 60 mph which **** up your head because your expecting a fast pitch and now it's coming at a very slow speed. Try doing double plays with just one guy on a individual level. You do know they practice many scenarios over and over again and they all work together(as a team) in order to make the correct throw during certain situations. They NEED to know their teammate is going to be there when he's going to throw it there. Example: Guy hits a soft ground ball to first base but it brings the first basemen far off the bag... The pitcher needs to know once that ball is hit that he needs to run and be ready to catch the ball, which is not the easiest thing to do. BTW have you ever tried hitting a 90+mph fast ball and being followed up by a change up or any offspeed pitch? I doubt it so you shouldn't make assumptions of other sports based on what you see on TV. And as for the sport I think is over rated would be as other people stated poker... wtf is that doing on espn? lolCurling... everyone knows about it... and everyone... talk about it... in bad of course but still more popular than many other sports :PRedgarl
Eh, curling's not bad... it's kind of like game shows; it's a good way to waste time in front of a TV if you're super bored and nothing else is on.

it's women who sweep the ice with brooms..... the only time curling was actually good was the winter olympics when Denmark won a medal :PYes, why is NASCAR even counted a sport?I've never seen the appeal of American football at all.
