What do you guys think of this belief? I don't really understand why someone would subscribe to this belief as it is just using the word god as a substitute for nature. And I don't really see any reason to do so except to justify ones own belief that god exist.
i think pantheism is a way to have God as sort of an infinite being, or the universe itself (since if you are everything, you are also nothing) but to make the universe consious. This satisfies a desire for safety and a feeling of purpose while also admitting that the theist God is improbable.
The Universe is the Universe= Cold, mysterious and no purpose
God is the Universe= warm, safe, and having a purpose

Growing up in Saudi, even with the Islamic schooling i got, and the prayers and such. My view of God was always Pantheistic-like, never personal. Have never said nor believed in a personal God. I was personally kinda surprised to find there was an actual term for the belief when i came upon it.
I personally don't find this view to make sense. Reason being is because I believe God made nature, they are not the same thing. Nature the creation, God the creator.

What if nature is merely an internal manifestation of God? Why does God have to create nature exterior to itself?

What if nature is merely an internal manifestation of God? Why does God have to create nature exterior to itself? I love ya bro, no homo. I just find it easier to comprehend that an exterior God made nature which is something other than itself. I mean that is how our minds work, since it is easier to think that, at least for me. and the Bible (which I personally follow with all my heart and believe to be true) says we are created in the image of God. But interesting point you made.
