[QUOTE="GrandJury"]Build up was horrible Nothing kept me guessing The actual characters were boring The ending was weak Now yes, I know they made the film on a budget but that does not stop me from thinking that the movie was complete crap. It seemed like a terrible M night whats his face movie.legend26

Sixth Sense?

Anyhow, I don't see how the buildup was horrible, it's what made the movie. It was well paced and the escalating degree of what happened each time was realistically portrayed, and was surely not predictable. The characters, while not Oscar worthy, got the job done. But I simply can't understand how anyone can think this movie has a weak ending. Even those who I've heard proclaim they hate it admit the ending was the only part worth watching. The scene right before the last night (dragged) has got to be one of the most intense horror scenes I've watched (the spider crawl down the stairs in The Exorcist is the only one else that comes close). The only thing bad about the ending was that it was spoiled in the trailer.

Sounds to me like you went in with preconceived expectations, and after it didn't live up to them you simply blamed the movie. As Black Cat said above, it needs to be approached and seen with an open mind. Maybe you did, but it doesn't sound like it.

Have you watched any of the alternate endings? which is your fav?

I have the Blue Ray which only has the one with the knife, it was fine but just didn't have the impact of the original to me. I've heard about the police one but Youtube had taken it down so I can't say. So I'd have to choose the former by default but am definitely interested in seeing the other. I think it's fine the way it is, honestly. I liked the subtle change of her face as she came at the camera, it was a split second viewing of what it looked like, not enough to know but enough to start imagining.

How about you? Are there more than two alternates?

My fave is the theatrical one, with her coming up to the camera (im a wuss with screamers :P ). I really like the police one, its alot more realistic but its such a downer ending. i dont care for the knife one.

I remember whispering and giggling throughout the entire first movie. It was just utter stupidity. I don't know how anyone was scared.
