To break it down to people who don't want to click the link, it's considered a sin to intentionally put yourself in danger just to see if God will save you. If he actually studied his religion he would know that what he was doing was a big no-no.

Yes, I'm aware that a good portion of OT doesn't believe in God but that's not what I'm debating. I'm just saying what the official view is on testing God.

This guy's dad died the same way. According to the article they have a literal belief in these verses from the book of Mark

I don't know why people treat God's word this way. It doesn't say "go buy snakes and start charming them." That proves nothing in regards to doing God's work imo. When demons are encountered, when snakes(i.e. enemies) are encountered than they will overcome them. It doesn't say to go around at weekly services and be a snake charmer. *sigh*.

I REALLY hope the reporter got this story wrong.

The irony is disturbing. The snake part is just icing on the cake. What an idiot. A man of of strong faith isn't guaranteed salvation from venom. He is guaranteed an optimistic mindset for the future, and that's it.
