At the Grammys, The Black Keys won awards and Justin Bieber was snubbed from the awards. At the event, a reporter asked Carney if he felt that Bieber was unfairly excluded from the awards. Carney responded, "He's rich, right? Grammys are for music, not for money...and he's making a lot of money. He should be happy."
To this, Bieber responded on Twitter, "the black keys drummer should be slapped around haha."
This drew the rage of Justin Bieber's Twitter follower army, who proceeded to Google who The Black Keys were and what their drummer's name was. They attacked Carney with thousands of tweets, calling him a "creepy grandpa" and saying he should go die. However, Carney has shown in the past that he's got a knack for comedy, especially on Twitter.
After initially just responding to Bieber's original tweet with nothing but a frown-face emoticon, he began responding to the army. He never invoked any sort of anger at them, despite the constant flow of death threats. The high point came when someone tweeted at him, "U r a one-hit wonder. Justin has been doing this for years." He simply responded, "True."
Last night, he took it to a new level by changing his name on Twitter to Justin Bieber, and making his Twitter picture a pic of the Biebs that resembles Carney.
The "war" is still in full-swing, so if you have a Twitter, go check it out. @patrickcarney
