[QUOTE="GTR2addict"]Macs are PCs people get over it. Mac OS is what i would call a 1500$ copy of linuxspazzx625$1500? :| It's $30. Good thing I can install an apple OS on any hardware...

I'm fine with both. I only see myself having a PC desktop though, because I like to play games on it (and not just games on Steam)
If I got a laptop, I'd go with a Macbook.

Who was arguing that OSX wasn't Unix based? Even so, OSX != Linux at all. There is no Linux kernel like OSX at all. Yeah, you could build a beast of a computer and freely install a linux kernel and get good results...But you are still acting like there is this huge premium for Macs and that just isn't true. Also, please show me these prices and specs where a Mac costs $1000 more than a comparably specced PC?they're both based off unix, linux does all the same stuff for free. besides, if a mac costs over a thousand bucks over a windows based machine, with the same or worse parts, why charge for anything that isn't the OS?

OS X is nothing like Linux. The only thing they have in common is that they're both UNIX based. OS X is actually built from FreeBSD.

Why would anyone even spend 1k on that second one? My computer is better and it cost a little more than 500...
pc always
but if i hadf a choice between macbook pro or any other laptop id pic mac because more value in $
Well, Mac's are PC's (Personal Computer). If you mean Mac v. Windows-based computer, then I'll have to go with Windows-based computer. I don't understand how people with any sense buy a Mac, unless they desperately need to use Final Cut Pro, or "need" to make some sort of fashion statement. They are more expensive, don't have customizable hardware, and have basically no modifiable user-interface. Everything is just so "streamlined" that it makes it impossible to "make it your own." Granted, you can install a Windows OS to Apple hardware... but then why not just use a Windows-based computer?

I used it as an example, if a freaking dell is cheaper and has the same power as a mac 1000$ more expensive, why bother? if i posted a custom built with the mac's specs, it would be demolished, and i could improve the pc all the way up to at least 1500 and know i would still dominate every mac in every wayPlease Log In to post.
